Triangular cherry deer is a rare mutant animal, not because of its population, but due to its herbivorous nature.
In an era where even mutated chickens and ducks can eat humans during the apocalypse, finding a creature that only consumes mutated plants and spares survivors is incredibly difficult.
Even more enticing for the survivors is the fact that triangular cherry deer are social animals with weak aggression. Coupled with the abundant mutated plants resulting from the apocalypse, these herbivorous mutants never lack food, allowing them to evolve to a high level.
Besides providing high-quality magic crystal resources, the horns, skin, and bones of triangular cherry deer are excellent materials, and their meat is renowned for being tender and rich in energy.
Such a lifeform seems to be tailor-made for survivors.
In Ye Zhongming's previous life, during a ten-year period, triangular cherry deer were probably the only species hunted to near extinction by survivors.
More than a year into the apocalypse, people had already discovered these mobile magic crystal sources with extensive activity areas and began their merciless hunting.
Zhao Xingmei and Liang Chuyin led a team from Ying City and discovered a herd of over a hundred small triangular cherry deer about ten kilometers away from their camp, with an average evolution level of level four, and more than ten reaching level five.
Considering the magic crystal materials and food, this was no small fortune for any faction.
The two beauties naturally wouldn't let this opportunity slip by and closely followed the herd.
However, since their team only comprised around 200 fighters from Ying City, even though the triangular cherry deer were not very aggressive, surrounding and hunting them was still quite challenging. These creatures could run fast, far beyond the capabilities of evolvers of the same level. A hasty attack might only yield a dozen or so.
Thus, Zhao Xingmei quickly dispatched someone to call nearby teams.
While waiting for reinforcements, an unfamiliar group appeared from another side and immediately launched an attack on the triangular cherry deer using guns from a distance. Caught off guard, dozens of triangular cherry deer were swiftly shot down.
The rest began to flee, and their escape route aligned perfectly with that of the Ying City team.
Having initially discovered the prey, the opportunity to seize it was too good to pass up, so Zhao Xingmei and Liang Chuyin led the Ying City fighters to hunt these mutant animals.
In the nearly half a month spent with Ye Zhongming, the Ying City team had benefited significantly. Now, each member was at least equipped with one silver item, and more than half had two. Daily meals from the Water and Fire Cauldron provided substantial energy boosts, gradually increasing their physical strength. Combined with their increasingly mature combat skills and coordinated teamwork through several battles, these triangular cherry deer quickly fell in large numbers.
However, despite being herbivores that do not eat humans, it didn't mean they wouldn't retaliate when cornered. Upon realizing they were trapped, the triangular cherry deer immediately counterattacked, clashing with the Ying City fighters.
Ultimately, the Ying City team was not the elite from Cloud Summit. Even though Ye Zhongming had given them special treatment, they weren't strong enough to quickly eliminate these triangular cherry deer, leading to a tense standoff.
Meanwhile, the group that had stolen the kills moved to one side after picking up the previous spoils. They neither came over to rob nor to assist, merely watching.
Caught off guard, the Ying City fighters hastily engaged. If not for their superior weapons and equipment, along with Liang Chuyin, a six-star evolver, they might have collapsed immediately.
Fortunately, they managed to hold on. Another team of around 200 from Ying City quickly arrived, encircling and wiping out the remaining triangular cherry deer.
The situation could have ended there, with both sides reaping rewards and returning home peacefully.
