Listening to Lezi, everyone realized that the situation had become quite serious.
They had probably heard about why Ye Zhongming had entered Linhai, but the genetic modification warrior project was a highly confidential matter within Cloud Summit, and they did not know much about it. If it weren't for the terrifying gene warriors showing their might during the Cloud Summit Defense War, they might not have even heard a hint of it.
However, they did not have a clear understanding of Ye Zhongming and Cloud Summit's regard for this matter. Many believed that there must be something valuable here, which made Ye Zhongming willing to take such a huge risk; it couldn't possibly be just for a few pieces of equipment.
Now, the warriors from Cloud Summit should have met up with Ye Zhongming, yet they showed no signs of wanting to leave the city immediately, which evidently meant that the precious item was still not in hand. As long as they remained in the city, they would inevitably be surrounded by the dried corpse horde!
And once Ye Zhongming was surrounded, then… should they save him or not?
If they didn't save him, entering would become meaningless. If they did save him, they would have to face hundreds of thousands of dried corpses!
Everyone indeed wanted to build a good relationship with Cloud Summit, but they weren't willing to risk their lives.
"Lezi, go up and check the situation again!"
Zhao Xingmei patted Lezi's shoulder, sending him soaring back into the sky.
"How many flying dried corpses are there?" Bai Feng suddenly shouted at Lezi as he ascended.
"About ten thousand!"
Bai Feng lowered his head, and everyone could see the seriousness on his face.
"At the nine o'clock direction, there’s a pack of several hundred Fierce Mane Dogs coming. Get ready for battle."
As soon as Lezi flew up, he warned the people below; several hundred mutated animals had just entered Linhai on one side of the team.
Having already been tempered by war, the team remained calm and composed, quickly arranging themselves to meet the threat.
The battle broke out suddenly and ended just as quickly. The hundreds of common mutated life forms, averaging around level three and not very intelligent, posed no significant threat to the team. After suffering the loss of two evolvers and injuring a dozen others, they managed to gain some resources from the Fierce Mane Dogs.
Once the fight was over, Lezi landed again.
"This situation is really serious," Lezi took a sip of water from one of his subordinates without waiting for anyone else to ask and started discussing the changes in the situation ahead.
"Boss Ye should have met up with the Cloud Summit people; it's a bit far, so I can't see clearly. But soon they dispersed again; it doesn't seem like they are planning to leave the city, but rather are circling around that big tree. I don't know if Boss Ye is leading them, but they seem to be moving toward the southern direction, almost like they want to circle back. I only saw the golden earth yellow pill, which I assume is with Boss Ye."
Everyone understood Lezi's words, but they were puzzled about Ye Zhongming's intentions; why did he want to circle back?
"Moreover, I discovered two teams on either side of us. The team on our left has at least five thousand people; they are currently stopped at one spot, not sure if they are observing or what. The team on our right… is a zombie horde, a real zombie horde! The number exceeds one hundred thousand!"
At this, the leaders of Ying City were collectively shocked.
What was going on? Why were more and more life forms joining in? Not only was there a formidable team of five thousand humans, but there was also a massive horde of over one hundred thousand zombies appearing. What on earth was this all about?!
The leaders began discussing among themselves, speculating about various possibilities and how to choose.
To be honest, many were already having second thoughts; this was different from when they were in the Inner City. Back then, it was a battle between all humanity and sea beasts, a race war where if you didn’t fight with all your might, you’d die there. Whether you wanted to or not, you had to pick up your weapon and fight for the chance to see tomorrow's sun.
