Note From Developer: I’m a big fan of Chinese web novels, but I often came across great stories with poor translations. That’s why I started this website! My goal is to make this the best web novel translation site out there. If you have any suggestions or feedback, feel free to reach out on Discord or Instagram.

Captain Ye threw down the binoculars, his face clearly showing displeasure.
"Situation report!"
The staff member standing beside him immediately relayed the gathered information to his superior.
"From our position as the origin point, we have spotted Li Shujun's unit at two o'clock, which has already arrived at the designated location. Hu Duohai's unit has been found at ten o'clock, and they too have reached their designated position. The second battalion is in place at five o'clock, and Director Liu's unit is set up at seven o'clock."
"In addition, Qin Xiaobo's unit has disappeared at twelve o'clock, and we have completely lost contact. We have detected unidentified forces at nine o'clock, four o'clock, and directly behind us, with numbers ranging from a dozen to several hundred."
"At the intersection of Jianyin Building and Santong Street, in the direction of South Fifth Latitude Street, and towards Liangliang Supermarket, we have discovered a large number of mutated life forms rapidly approaching our unit. And..."
"What else?" Captain Ye's gaze sharpened as he looked at the excellent soldier who had been with him since graduating from a prestigious military academy.
The staff member clenched his teeth, "We... are being surrounded by zombies."
Captain Ye chuckled, "As long as we are still in this city, we are already surrounded by zombies, aren't we?"
"Captain, what I mean is, there is a massive number of zombies converging from all directions towards us. If we can't retreat within ten minutes, we will be thrown into a fierce battle. If we delay for more than half an hour, we may... we may never be able to break out."
"So, we only have half an hour to solve this riddle?"
The young staff member nodded, pressing his lips together and falling silent.
Captain Ye rhythmically tapped his fingers on the skylight, a resolute look flashing in his eyes.
He ripped off the Bluetooth walkie-talkie from his ear and, with the powerful ability of a one-star evolver, jumped onto the roof of the vehicle, shouting at the top of his lungs, "Brothers, I may have led you into a tomb of the dead!"
The soldiers of the first and third battalions gathered here turned around, looking at their captain.
"Over there! There! And over there! Countless monsters are rushing towards us. If we don't retreat now, we might die here."
Upon hearing these words, the soldiers around them shifted slightly from their rigid stances. The word 'death' had been heard and seen countless times in the past twenty-four hours, but when it fell upon them, it still caused a flicker of hesitation.
"I know many of you are worried about your distant families, feeling lost about the future and uncertain about what wearing this uniform means anymore."
"I'm the same as you," Captain Ye's voice lowered slightly, "In my hometown, my elderly parents don't know how they are, my wife and children don't know if they are safe, and my relatives don't know if they are alive."
"I worry too."
Many people resonated with the captain's words, their eyes reddening.
"But!" Captain Ye suddenly grabbed his collar, shaking as he shouted at the soldiers below, "Is that our reason to give up?! Is that why we abandon our beliefs?!"
"Tell me, are we going to become like this?"
Different degrees of struggle appeared on the young faces below as the soldiers contemplated and evaluated.
"Well, I won’t." Captain Ye pounded his chest, "I worry about my family, but I also see the drastic changes in this world, see our kind turning into man-eating monsters, see that damned roulette like a drug, and witness evolutions that exceed our imagination!"
"Just like those damn games!" Captain Ye began to shout, his face turning red from the intensity, "I feel like I’m being played for a fool! What about you?!"
"I feel like a toy, a pawn, for someone else’s amusement!"
"I worry about my family, I want to find them, but I know recklessness won’t work. I might not even make it out of this city before these monsters eat me down to the bones. What use is it if my loved ones are still alive then? I’d be dead!"
