Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 347: A Play of Interconnected Tricks 🎭

Published: February 6, 2025

Wen Hong was in a state of intense anxiety. She didn’t know what had attacked the camp, but she knew that her husband was in extreme danger right now.

Perhaps… Wen Hong began to regret not bringing the white robe with her.

The smell of blood was overwhelming, stimulating her senses every second and sending chills down her spine at the thought of various possibilities.

The smell of the desolate land was not pleasant; in fact, many of them had a faint toxicity. But at this moment, compared to the stench of blood, Wen Hong would rather inhale poison than endure this scent of fresh blood.

The tent was right in front of her, the door curtain was open, and through it, she vaguely saw the white robe sitting on a stool inside.

With a sharp cry, Wen Hong accelerated her pace again, filled with anger.

Without his legs, the white robe couldn’t sit up!

In the instant she rushed towards the tent, Wen Hong felt an extreme sense of danger. Without thinking, she lunged forward and threw herself onto her husband, just as an explosion occurred.

The tent was blown away, the massive sound shaking the ground, and debris scattered, creating numerous holes in the other tents.

Little Brother Jiu and the others rushed over and were shocked to see the tent blown away. They hurried to clear the rubble and pulled out a bloodied Wen Hong and the white robe from inside.

The white robe was alive; he was merely knocked unconscious and tied to the stool. Wen Hong also survived; the white-grade Blade Defense Armor on her body protected her from harm, although the exposed parts of her head and face were injured, but not seriously.

“It was a grenade converted into a bomb; it doesn’t pose much threat to Sister Hong,” a Yao Shi Army squad leader who understood explosives observed the surroundings and confidently stated.

Everyone let out a breath of relief. Such a modified bomb could hardly cause serious harm to Wen Hong, a four-star evolver. Even for a three-star evolver, unless they were unlucky enough to be hit by shrapnel piercing a vital area, it would only cause minor external injuries.

Bang!

But just then, an unexpected incident occurred. With the sound of a gunshot, the Yao Shi Army captain who had just spoken had his head explode, blood and brain matter splattering onto those nearby.

“Sniper!”

Someone shouted, and the Yao Shi Army fell into disarray, everyone scrambling for cover. Some used their equipment abilities or skills to feel safer.

Little Brother Jiu, Jin Quan, and several other captain-level figures were shielded beneath a thin veil, a new piece of equipment that Jin Quan had received from headquarters a few days ago.

But the faces of these captain-level figures were extremely grim.

The first shot killed a two-star evolver; although the loss wasn’t great, it was like a slap to the face, leaving the Yao Shi Army reeling.

Bang!

A second shot rang out, and another small leader of the Yao Shi Army fell, again a two-star evolver.

This time, they were more alert; many noticed the direction from which the bullet had come.

“Get the defensive gear over there!”

Little Brother Jiu shouted as he led the charge out of cover. He had already noticed that the shooter was still some distance away, allowing three-star and above evolvers enough time to dodge, making the chance of a successful kill low. This was also why the hidden sniper was focusing on taking out two-star evolvers.

However, even for the wealthy Yao Shi Army, there weren’t many two-star evolvers left now, and every death was a significant loss for Little Brother Jiu.

The gunfire sounded again, and yet another two-star evolver was killed, but the sniper's position became clearer, indicating the direction they were rushing towards.

Little Brother Jiu, Jin Quan, and other powerful Yao Shi Army leaders led dozens of people to form a surrounding encirclement and quickly closed in.

The sniper couldn't escape.

After waiting a few seconds, with a command from Little Brother Jiu, they tightened the encirclement together.
