Chapter 4: A Late Night Update!
Red Hair...
Ye Zhongming was stunned, as he never expected to see Red Hair at this moment.
Wasn't she dead? No matter whether it was the Soul Pearl or his own blood, nothing could bring her back to life.
But why was she still alive, while he felt no spiritual connection at all?
Ye Zhongming couldn't help but recall the certain tremors in his heart before entering the desolate land; he had only felt a sense of familiarity back then, without really thinking in this direction. But now he realized that these were the fluctuations belonging to Red Hair.
However, right now, it seemed as if there was some sort of connection between Ye Zhongming and Red Hair, yet it also felt as though there was none at all.
The current Red Hair had changed significantly compared to before.
Once, her skin was rough and sickly gray-white, her eyes blood-red and vacant, exuding a gloomy aura. Her movements were stiff, like a puppet.
But now, although her skin still bore a faint bluish-gray tint, it was not much different from a normal person. The blood vessels in her eyes were present but not too dense, and her movements were fluid and natural, lacking any stiffness—even the action of bending down to pick up the evolution potion showed no sign of rigidity.
Compared to the Red Hair who had never left Ye Zhongming's side before, she now resembled a person, not a crafted human puppet or Iron Corpse.
Red Hair picked up the three-star evolution elixir, and suddenly her fluid movements paused as her gaze turned towards Ye Zhongming.
The two gazes intersected in the air, and then, with a bang, it felt as if something had exploded, leaving both Ye Zhongming and the Iron Corpse in a moment of blankness.
A number of memories that did not belong to him floated in Ye Zhongming's mind; most were chases in the dark, and battles with another person who seemed to have a powerful mutated black cat.
Strange plants also appeared in his mind, with a fragment of this plant's soul wandering in some gray space. When needed, it could be triggered and would obey commands to fight.
Red Hair stood there rigidly, her expression stiffening as new content appeared in her mind. These were not memories, but about her evolution, her strength, and her lifespan!
It wasn't until a hand was placed on her body that Red Hair snapped back to reality. She turned her head to see the spirit woman zombie, who would cooperate with her to kill evolvers for energy and covet her brain.
Red Hair turned around, leaving behind a deep gaze.
On the other side, the Mutated Rat King squeaked, with Yangos circling above, looking less vicious than before.
A few grade 4 zombie kings occasionally exchanged gestures, indicating that the leaders of the three major factions were discussing something.
Once the spirit woman and Red Hair joined the zombie group, this communication gradually turned into an argument.
As a zombie, the spirit woman clearly understood the communication methods with other races better. She grew increasingly agitated as she emitted strange syllables, but was met with Yangos's roar, the Mutated Rat King's shriek, and the silence of the other corpse kings.
The once restless three factions had returned to their previous state. The humans thought they had succeeded, but now, due to a single command from the kings of the three factions, everything had failed.
The monster faction and the mutated animal faction suddenly pressured the zombie faction, causing unrest and agitation among the zombie horde. In some controlled borderline areas, some mutated animals and zombies had already started fighting.
The spirit woman and Red Hair expressed their concerns passionately, even pleading with several grade 4 corpse kings, but the kings exchanged glances and chose to remain silent and retreat.
Yangos let out a harsh cry, and the Rat King replied with a strange sound. Shortly after, a grade 3 mutated rat darted over and swallowed a drop of the blood of evolution.
A red light simultaneously emanated from the mutated rat's body, its glow overshadowing the light from the roulette's spinning just moments ago. The rat's form then underwent a tremendous change, its body expanding, long tusks sprouting from its mouth, its tail thickening and lengthening, and its gray fur becoming as hard and sharp as steel needles.
