Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 269: Rainbow Gate and Auction House 🌈🏛️

Published: February 6, 2025

"It seems to be... the Burning Fury people." A leader of a faction looked around, somewhat uncertain.

He knew that a few days ago, the Burning Fury had suffered heavy losses during an operation, and their top combat force had been wiped out. Their strength had significantly declined, and their ranking, which was supposed to be updated today, would likely drop beyond the twentieth place. He had also heard that the invitation cards from Burning Fury had already been taken by the Keer Knight Brigade, leaving them without any.

Not many people were aware of this situation, but a few were, and they began to glance at the appearing Keer Knight Brigade, sensing that a conflict might occur today.

"They're not really going to charge straight in, are they?"

"Looks like it, but that's... too reckless!"

"Are they courting death? This is the city center, there are at least eight thousand zombies here, not to mention how many high-level mutated zombies are lurking inside. Aren't they afraid of triggering a zombie tide that could drown them?"

"However, look at their equipment; it’s truly impressive. They are all wearing gray-level gear, and it’s very uniform—a gray riot suit combined with gray outdoor knives! Just this equipment is worth a considerable amount of Evolution Potions."

"I haven't heard of Burning Fury having these. Did they encounter a craftsman?"

"Maybe one of them is a craftsman."

"Come on, can they afford a craftsman with their strength? In Ying City, the only ones capable of maintaining craftsmen are probably Boss Bai and Xing Mei. The others? Would craftsmen even look down on them? That's one of the top professions in the apocalypse."

"But have you noticed? The Burning Fury people are very organized. They're sticking close to the building sides and killing silently. Only the surrounding zombies can detect them. Plus, their riot suits are very tight, minimizing human scent and smeared with zombie blood, preventing a large-scale zombie tide from being triggered."

The various factions on the rooftop were discussing fervently, and many who were unclear about the situation learned something from their words, observing the rapidly approaching squad with mixed expressions.

Some, with no direct conflict of interest, admired the courage of the small team, their strategic thinking, and their humble yet impactful entrance.

There were others who felt envious, wishing they could have such neatly organized gear, and could command like an army.

Yet many still scoffed, not taking this small team seriously.

The efficiency of the squad below was surprisingly high. They chose a smart angle to insert themselves into the battlefield, and somehow infiltrated to that position before charging straight in. It looked reckless, but the distance from their appearance to entering the department store was only a few dozen meters. Coupled with their silent and effective killings, they quickly traversed that distance and entered the department store.

Everyone present had lived in the apocalypse for more than two months; they were among the few evolvers most adapted to the new world. They understood that this seemingly simple action required courage, strength, and insight. If anyone made a loud noise, hesitated, or failed to cleanly kill the surrounding zombies, they would fall into the zombie horde and be torn to pieces.

The strength of the Burning Fury squad might drop to the thirtieth place in the new rankings. Even if they seemed underestimated now, many factions in Ying City had similar combat capabilities, yet why hadn’t they chosen to approach like Burning Fury? It was simply because they didn’t have the confidence to do so.

Minutes later, the stairway door to the rooftop was pushed open, and the squad appeared in front of everyone.

"Hmph."

Seeing Brother Bao, the leader of the Keer Knight Brigade, a member crossed his arms and sneered. Even though the Burning Fury team had just displayed textbook teamwork, in Du Ke's eyes, it was nothing extraordinary. If they were truly that strong, why would they give their invitation card to him?
