Chapter Text:
In "Two-in-One," Commander Cheng Liujin glanced at the star chart but found nothing, so he looked at Ye Zhongming with a puzzled expression.
"This isn't easy to discern; take a look at this instead," Ye Zhongming said, providing Commander Cheng with the real-time scanning images from the equipment during the detection process.
When they passed over a red nebula, Ye Zhongming paused the scan. He looked at it again, shook his head, and replayed it so that Commander Cheng could observe closely.
The former Commander Huang Jin, now the leader of the tribe's guard, scrutinized the footage for a long time, replaying it over five times, yet he still remained perplexed.
Ye Zhongming sighed, pointed to a location, and said, “Look here, at that moment, there’s a light-colored dot.”
Commander Cheng turned to look and indeed found it, but it was fleeting and easily overlooked.
The primary reason was that the nebula was not fixed; it flowed within a certain range, and the explanation from that side suggested it might relate to the gravitational pull between the numerous fragment stars. Additionally, there were many climatic phenomena occurring within the nebula.
The fleeting light spot was indeed visible on the scanning image. However, this situation wasn't uncommon; it could be caused by a lake on the ground or a small patch of slightly condensed clouds, or even brightly colored plants.
What made this spot special?
Even upon discovering this light spot, Commander Cheng couldn't understand why it had caught Ye Zhongming's attention.
“Do you see that its brightness is slightly higher than other similar spots?” Ye Zhongming asked.
Commander Cheng nodded, realizing that upon closer comparison, it was indeed true. However, the issue was that if one didn't look closely, the differences were negligible.
“Furthermore, each type of equipment serves different functions, but what if every one of them showed that there’s a point here?” Ye Zhongming continued, starting to switch the source of the scanning images. Each image displayed the point, indicating it had always been there.
“This modified warship was also sent from that side, with additional data stored about this area. I compared it with the previous scanning results from when they came here for hunting and found that this point has never changed position; it has always been there. It just wasn’t detected in earlier scans due to weather or natural phenomena. But as long as the weather conditions are good, this point will definitely be there,” Ye Zhongming explained.
Hearing Ye Zhongming's words, Commander Cheng first nodded and then looked at him incredulously, “You’ve gone through all the scanning images from the past years?”
Ye Zhongming nodded, his expression calm.
“With people from that side here, I couldn’t produce equipment, so I just went through everything while I had the time,” Ye Zhongming replied.
Commander Cheng glanced at the five-digit highest storage capacity and swallowed hard.
How could he be so bored? How obsessed? How could he endure such loneliness?
Ye Zhongming shrugged; perhaps it was due to his obsession with the Rebel Dragon Race that ever since he decided to come here—whether before departure, during the journey, or even after leaving the mothership to carry out missions—he had been researching and reviewing everything related to the Rebel Dragon Race.
Thanks to Ye Zhongming's immense mental strength and abundant physical energy, he could accomplish many things that seemed impossible to others.
For instance, with those scanning images, Ye Zhongming might not remember every single detail, but after going through them once, he could establish a complete comparative system in his mind. If he was shown one image alone, he might not recall specific details, but if presented with two or more, he could quickly identify their differences and anomalies.
Ye Zhongming firmly believed that information and clues are discovered through such comparisons.
In fact, he had discovered something.
