CHAPTER TEXT:
"Thanks to book friend 19783340 for the 588, and to the other brothers, thank you as well. This is a two-in-one chapter. I must complain, home renovation is truly not human work, it’s too distressing."
Wang Xia has an ordinary name, yet her life is far better than her name would suggest.
She has a caring husband, a lovely child, and a happy family.
She also has an enviable income; the travel agency she runs, though not large, is enough for her to gain some fame in the tourism circle of Ying City, a provincial capital.
Originally, this was supposed to be Wang Xia's last trip with a tour group before she and her husband planned for a second child. A company employee who cared for her business wanted her to personally guide a tour to Cloud Summit Mountain, but little did she know, the apocalypse arrived just like that.
The events of that week were the most terrifying nightmare Wang Xia had ever experienced. On the tour bus, the grotesque, bloodied faces and the infected, rampaging corpses made her, a person who had only quarreled twice in her life, tremble to her core.
But what followed was even worse, dragging Wang Xia deeper into hell.
The brutal fighting over food among her own kind, the extreme magnification of human ugliness in the face of uncertainty, and the unscrupulous betrayal for survival...
If Wang Xia didn’t still hold onto the thought of seeing her husband and son again, she would have long been like many others, finding a tall building to jump off and end it all, as that would be better than living in hell every day.
Perhaps Heaven wanted her to experience something scarier than hell; she encountered a group of short, green-skin monsters.
The nightmare began, still a nightmare from the eighteen levels of hell.
After the apocalypse started, Wang Xia wasn’t without being violated by other men; at that time, she wanted to die. But when those stinking monsters, only as tall as her waist with green faces and sharp teeth, were on top of her, she completely lost her mind.
Before, no matter what, they were still her own kind, even if they were undoubtedly akin to beasts.
But now, they were monsters!
Wang Xia wanted to commit suicide then, but her hands and feet were restrained. The only method she could think of was to bite her tongue to death, something she learned from movies.
However, Wang Xia failed; she didn’t bite off her tongue, which meant she was unable to die from the three possible outcomes of tongue-biting death—death from pain, choking, or bleeding to death.
This not only robbed her of her ability to scream but also forced her to endure pain from head to toe every moment.
Those were days that made Wang Xia wish for the Earth to explode. For her, that was the apocalypse; facing zombies and beasts before seemed like heaven in comparison.
It wasn’t until ten days later that Wang Xia was sent to a huge warehouse.
She discovered that there were many women like her around, even female zombies! The number was in the hundreds.
With her hands nailed to the wall and her feet tied to iron pipes, she was bound in an extremely humiliating position at the wall's edge.
The warehouse was dark, and Wang Xia realized it might be a basement—cold, but not damp. Every day, those green-skin monsters would come to feed them; human women received canned bread, while the female zombies were given bloody chunks of meat.
After being locked in the warehouse for half a month, Wang Xia figured out what was going on.
One of the female zombies had a noticeably enlarged belly; this living corpse, mutated from being human, was actually pregnant!
At that moment, Wang Xia felt utterly hopeless for humanity. A creature capable of becoming pregnant, and even if she had conceived right from the day the apocalypse began, it had only been a little over a month, yet judging by that belly, it was clearly about to give birth!
Then, Wang Xia discovered she was also pregnant. Unlike the joy she felt when she was expecting her son, she was nauseated to the point of vomiting that very day—not from any pregnancy reaction but truly because she was disgusted.
