Under the dual protection of gray mist and height, few attacks could approach Huo Zhi. The greatest effect of these attacks was merely to keep the suppressed mist at a reasonable level.
At this moment, Kunz was somewhat at a loss about what to do next.
Continue attacking? It seemed ineffective. But not attacking? That wouldn't work either; who knew if these energy walls were merely holding them captive temporarily or were a hidden preparation for a counterattack later on.
After attacking for a while, several peak experts also stopped. Their energy was not infinite.
“Who has a way to break free? It wouldn’t hurt to give it a try now,” Kunz said to the peak experts below him.
These individuals seemed to have little say in front of him, but outside, they were all significant figures responsible for various aspects of the Hall People.
Among them was one person, even recognized as the next most likely candidate to advance to peak expert level. If such a person claimed to have no trump card or backup plans, no one would believe it.
However, these peak experts remained still for a while, which flashed anger across Kunz’s face.
“Don’t worry, once we get out, the clan will compensate you. If the clan doesn’t, I will.”
Seeing that Kunz had spoken this far, the peak experts exchanged glances and began to retrieve their items.
The first one took out a small but exquisitely crafted clock. He pulled out a metal hammer from beside the clock, then aimed this piece of equipment at Huo Zhi and gently tapped it.
Immediately, an invisible sound wave surged toward the target, only noticed by others when it encountered the mist, dispersing it.
“Heart Prayer Bell?” Kunz thought in surprise, not expecting this piece of equipment targeting the spiritual sea to be in this expert’s hand. He remembered it seemed to belong to the leader of the Slongskanbu Clan; did he buy it? Or steal it?
The invisible sound wave quickly swept past the mist and reached the feet of Huo Zhi, the closest it had been to the Su Clan elder so far.
At that moment, the surrounding energy wall shook violently twice, instilling anticipation and joy in the hearts of the Hall People’s warriors.
However, the sound wave stopped right at Huo Zhi's feet, failing to make contact with her body. The mist gradually reclaimed the area it had just lost, indicating that this attack was ineffective.
“I’ll do it!”
Another peak expert, somewhat irritated, had no equipment in hand. Instead, he began reciting some spells, coating his hands with red powder. After finishing the incantation, he pushed his hands toward Huo Zhi.
The previous expert with the Heart Prayer Bell glanced at Kunz and briefly mentioned that the next attack needed to happen in seven hours, before focusing on his companion’s attack.
The red powder, mixed with energy, flew toward Huo Zhi. The mist retreated as if encountering a natural enemy, faster than ever before.
However, this situation only lasted for a moment before stopping under Huo Zhi’s feet again. But compared to the previous attacks, this red powder touched the sole of Huo Zhi's shoe, and the high-tier equipment immediately made a sizzling sound, melting away in front of everyone’s eyes.
But it seemed to cause no harm to Huo Zhi.
Everyone sighed collectively.
“That’s pretty good; at least we touched her,” Kunz encouraged everyone, his gaze continuously inspecting the peak expert's hands. He didn’t even know what this ability was, but its power was surprisingly strong and carried a potent toxicity—perhaps it was due to the red powder?
This first attack had made contact with Huo Zhi, greatly boosting the confidence of the Hall People’s peak experts. They all took out their best items to attack Huo Zhi. However, reality dealt them a heavy blow; not a single one of their subsequent attacks struck Huo Zhi again, all failing halfway.
This left the Hall People’s peak experts both furious and helpless.
They desperately wanted to think of methods, yet the mist that kept descending denied them any opportunity.
