“Why are you still following me?”
The battle pet of the Mechanical Genius was heavily damaged after an intense battle, appearing tattered as it dashed through the wilderness, as if it could fall apart at any moment.
Since completing the trial with Ye Zhongming and others, the Mechanical Genius had directly severed ties with his former race and moved towards the Layered Water Desolation, showing no signs of nostalgia or delay.
He didn’t understand what the message Ye Zhongming wanted him to convey meant, but he was certain it was important.
Perhaps the Mechanical Genius was a bit neurotic; in Ye Zhongming’s eyes, he might even have some form of brain disorder.
Nonetheless, the Mechanical Genius dominated a region on Earth, and the most crucial factors for this were obviously his strength and luck, but one cannot overlook his wisdom.
No fool could rise to the position of a regional overlord unless the whole world was filled with fools.
Therefore, from Ye Zhongming's expression, tone, and the final strange disappearance, the Mechanical Genius tasted an unusual flavor.
He didn’t want to waste even a bit of time.
As for the Feirosong race, he had no desire to entangle himself with them and left with no regrets.
If there was anything he regretted, it would be the little girl by his side.
Initially, the Mechanical Genius worried she would hinder him, but after over an hour of walking, the girl named Kani had continued to follow him without interruption, though she also remained silent.
This made the Mechanical Genius quite anxious, as there was nothing he could do; he simply couldn’t overpower her.
Finally, he couldn't help but stop and asked Kani, “Why are you following me?”
Kani did not respond immediately but stood still, gazing into the distance.
“I don’t know,” she whispered half a minute later.
The Mechanical Genius didn’t explode in anger or excitement; instead, he stared blankly for a while and said, “You have parents in your clan and shouldn’t be following me. You should go back and say... I ran away.”
“But you are my Meow.”
This time, as she said this, the little girl lacked the previous confidence and assertiveness; her voice was weak. Perhaps she understood that many things were no longer the same.
The Mechanical Genius remained quiet and then said, “I’m leaving. You...”
He trailed off, unsure of what to say.
…………………………
Within the vast mountain belly, the Three People and One Dragon returned here once more.
Compared to before, their condition this time was relatively better.
This was the difference between having assistance and not having assistance. However, the Mechanical Genius and the little girl had engaged in battle outside, inadvertently attracting some parasites, which significantly impacted the situation.
“I was initially worried that our clan would make some wrong judgments due to our prolonged absence, but now it seems that while we can’t completely avoid that risk, at least there’s a greater chance of preventing it,” Jie Su said with a hint of relief in his tone as he enjoyed the healing sparks.
The decision made by the trio to continue the challenge had indeed weighed on their minds.
On one hand, they didn’t know if choosing to return would land them back near the Black Book Summit, which would be like walking into a tiger’s den again. On the other hand, they had to bear the potential consequences for their clan due to their disappearance.
Their decision was somewhat selfish; however, even if the matter were left for the clan to decide, they would still choose to let a few people stay and continue the challenge.
Such opportunities weren’t encountered often; missing it might mean a lifetime of regret.
Yet, the worry in their hearts remained.
Of course, what the three did not know was that their status in the clan was even higher than they imagined. For their sake, the Su Clan and the Star-Eye Clan were engaging in some crazy actions.
If they had known, they would have unhesitatingly abandoned the challenge here.
