No one could understand Jie Su's feelings at this moment.
He had always given people a sense of warmth and steadiness. Many times, he truly was that way.
But that doesn’t mean Jie Su would remain like this forever, nor does it mean he didn’t wish to stand out like his peers, to be in the spotlight. He simply had higher goals, which is why he had always suppressed his 'youthful' side.
Jie Su once thought that he would fight for that goal for a lifetime.
But ever since he met Commander Qing Tong of the Star-Eye Clan, Jie Su realized that while the goal hadn’t changed, the time to achieve it might come sooner.
Even if it meant dancing on the edge of a knife.
In the past, he had fantasized about challenging the two major leader races, those beings who were his equals, or even whom he looked up to, standing opposite him one day. They would battle each other and separate life from death.
Even now, Jie Su still believed that such a day would come.
Just a bit sooner.
Just like now, when he was facing three opponents, all of whom were no weaker than him.
The moment he and Ye Zhongming decided to go after Zimu, they were destined to walk a path full of hardships, a narrow road lined with thorns, leading close to a bottomless abyss.
But Jie Su liked this feeling.
He was dead serious now; he knew his strength wasn’t enough yet, that he couldn't truly challenge those who were so high above him, but these few people before him were a challenge to his limits.
Jie Su was particularly eager to know how strong he had become, given that he was improving every day.
In this moment, he thought of the even more dangerous Pao Bai behind him, and of Ye Zhongming, who was alone facing the great experts. Each person was fighting for their goals, risking their lives, and so was he.
Either die here or step onto a path of slaughter against the heavens.
Come on!
Jie Su charged leftward.
“What is this?!”
The confidant of Zimu looked in disbelief at the scene before him, as if witnessing the collapse of the universe.
Naturally, he didn’t know what ability Jie Su was using right now, but he recognized the formations above and below and understood the power of both formations. He also recognized Jie Su.
What he didn’t understand was how these could be combined.
Although the ability just unleashed by Zimu's confidant wasn't his ultimate move, given the numerical and overall strength advantage, that ability was most suitable for suppressing enemies.
His strength was not as strong as the two guards, but as a support attacker, he was the most suitable. This didn’t mean his ability was merely a decoration. On the contrary, in terms of sustained attack power and destructiveness, it was far beyond what the two guards could compare to.
But the ice birds flying out of the formation completely blocked that skill.
The ice birds dimmed at a visibly rapid rate, but for a short time, those black lightning strikes truly couldn’t break through the defense.
After Jie Su collided with the guard on the right, the confidant decisively retracted his skill, revealing two short crossbows in his hands, all appearing to be crimson condensation level equipment.
This was his ultimate weapon.
Over the years, all the flattery and connections had primarily resulted in these two weapons.
Each short crossbow could fire fifteen times in succession, with each attack equivalent to double the maximum attack power of the user, and the attack was divided into two segments. The first segment was at the tip of the crossbow, which would produce a penetrating attack upon hitting the target, and then regardless of whether the bolt penetrated the target’s body or not, it would cause a small explosion at the tail end of the bolt.
One could say that these crossbow bolts were truly weapons of war for close to mid-range combat.
The confidant didn’t know what ability Jie Su was using now, but it looked powerful; it was better to end the battle quickly to avoid prolonged conflict.
At this moment, Jie Su had already collided with the guard over there.
