Chapter 201: Slave Control Card 🃏

Published: February 6, 2025

A blinding light suddenly appeared on the battlefield.

The fangtooth beast riders behind instinctively covered their eyes, while Ye Zhongming's team turned their heads aside.

Ye Zhongming squinted, but his body had already turned around, racing back to his formation.

This sudden change caused a momentary halt in the charge of the fangtooth beast riders.

Then, these riders at the front subconsciously slowed their steps, coming to a complete stop just a few meters away from Shengyuan. Originally known for their discipline, they began to circle around in place, as if searching for something.

Their level 3 beast rider leader had vanished!

He simply disappeared into thin air.

Each rider was dazed, having lost their leader.

Ye Zhongming raised his left hand, still with the silver card between his fingers. The difference was that the originally brilliant plain card now bore a vivid image that looked just like a fangtooth beast rider!

"Boss, it's useful, right? Haha," Little Tiger said proudly from the side, eager to take credit.

Little Tiger wasn't lying about this card; it had indeed been stolen from a very powerful survivor.

It was two days after the team had just emerged from the desolate land. They hadn't yet separated, and while they were sleeping at night, the team was ambushed.

However, the assassin chosen in the dark of night made a poor target; he picked Xia Lei, who appeared charming, with a constant smile, always carefree.

Even though this sexy woman had transitioned to a clerical position before the apocalypse, her background as an outstanding armed police officer remained. After surviving the apocalypse for a month, she had regained her abilities, and being an evolver, Xia Lei was among the strongest in the team, second only to Ye Zhongming.

His ambush didn't succeed and instead became the target of a team beating.

This person was very unfortunate; he was not only a one-star evolver but also a professional, an assassin whose job was shadowy and dangerous at this stage. If he hadn't underestimated his target and chosen the highly vigilant Xia Lei, who was skilled in blade techniques, the team might have suffered significant losses. But once he failed to deliver a single blow, he no longer had the chance to kill anyone.

Because everyone had a void crystal shield on them, and this assassin's professional skills could not be used three times in a short span.

This sudden assassination put the team under a constant threat of death, and in such a situation, there was no courtesy or mercy spared for this assassin.

While handling the corpse, Little Tiger discovered the silver card hidden on the man's body.

It was a Slave Control Card.

Its function was to activate and seal mutated lifeforms of the same level as the card. Once sealed successfully, the mutated lifeform would be imprisoned within the Slave Control Card, becoming a creature akin to a battle pet.

However, battle pets would always stay by their owner's side, possessing their independent life and, conditions permitting, could breed and evolve.

But the mutated lifeforms sealed by the Slave Control Card were different; they would have their memories erased and only obey their master's commands. Unless a special upgrade card was used, their evolution level wouldn't improve by absorbing energy.

Monsters sealed in the Slave Control Card were born solely for battle, showing no fear or retreat until they died in combat.

Once the sealed mutated lifeform perished, the Slave Control Card would shatter, turning into useless debris, and as long as the sealed monster was alive, it could return to the card to recuperate. Even with just a sliver of life, it could exchange time for recovery.

Such cards were among the best-selling items in the apocalypse.

The Slave Control Card that Little Tiger obtained was a level 3 card, only able to seal level 3 mutated lifeforms. It seemed this one-star evolver assassin had failed to find a suitable opportunity and target to use it, allowing the team to gain possession.
