Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1856: A Chilling Scene 😱

Published: February 12, 2025

“Phase Two of the test will end in an hour. All newbies must immediately stop attacking each other and find an open area to await extraction.”

“Violators will be executed.”

“Hunting can continue. The last one thousand newbies on the leaderboard should make the most of their time to earn points, as one thousand will be eliminated at the end of this phase!”

“Newbies ranked in the top one hundred on the leaderboard, if you can maintain your rank until the end of Phase Two, you will receive an additional two percent points reward. Newbies ranked from one hundred one to one thousand, if you can maintain your rank, you will receive an additional one percent points reward.”

“Rewards will be distributed in real time after the end.”

This message from the recorder reminded every surviving newbie that the second small cycle of three days was about to end.

Ye Zhongming looked at Amus, who was less than a hundred meters away, and revealed a cold smile.

After killing Hawkins, he had been running with his team.

This running wasn’t exactly fleeing, because without the mechanical speedboats, Ye Zhongming and those with the sea king mark could move much faster in the sea compared to Amus and her companions. If it were anyone else, they would have given up long ago, but Amus, driven mad by the death of her husband, relentlessly pursued Ye Zhongming.

Ye Zhongming had timed it perfectly. He lit a bonfire on a small island, roasted a bit of the hunted game to eat, and sat there watching Amus approach from a distance. He was halted by the regulations displayed on the screen when she was less than a hundred meters away.

The King of Cloud Summit truly hoped that Amus, blinded by hatred, would attack him. However, this woman, whose son and husband he had killed, merely looked at him with a cold, eerie gaze, sitting on the ground, drenched, a stark contrast to her previously arrogant queen persona.

Wade and Yaka sat behind her, looking equally disheveled. After hours of high-speed pursuit, even as nine-star evolvers, they were exhausted.

At the same time, they felt true fear towards the man across from them.

Was it that they genuinely couldn’t defeat him? No, neither Wade nor Yaka thought so.

The recovery ability of nine-star evolvers was remarkably terrifying, and Ye Zhongming was among the best of them. Along with a long void water clan member, they didn’t think he was out of combat capability.

Of course, no one wanted to face a crazy yet powerful nine-star evolver, and they recognized this. Everyone knew that if it came down to a fight, Amus, now completely deranged, would fight recklessly, and what if she managed to take one of them down? This was likely the concern in the hearts of those on the opposite side.

Wade and Yaka looked at Ye Zhongming with complex emotions because he contrasted sharply with Amus. He cared more about the safety of his team members, unlike the Hawkins couple, who were merely interested in their own benefits.

Yaka stabbed her long-handled knife into the ground, glancing at her rank on the recorder. It made her uncomfortable.

Four thousand seven hundred fifteen.

She didn’t believe her abilities should be ranked this low; she felt that even if she couldn’t make it into the top fifty, the top hundred was absolutely within reach.

Now, she had been delayed.

An uncontrollable urge to leave rose within her.

Amus was mad now, consumed with thoughts of revenge, and Wade had an unresolvable grudge against Ye Zhongming because his brother had been killed. But what about her?

Yaka thought to herself, she had no hatred in this, so why should she continue to participate in such pointless violence? Just because they were all from Treasure Island?

This dwarf girl made up her mind; after this cycle ended, she would no longer follow Amus.

Amus, however, wouldn’t care about how others felt. She knew that her only goal for the rest of her life was to kill the man in front of her.

She recognized her madness but had not lost her rationality. She would continue to grow stronger until she killed him!
