Chapter 1835: The Difficulty Increases 🚀

Published: February 12, 2025

“Thank you to my brother for the 5,000 rewards, and thank you to my fellow adventurer for the support.”

“I want to join you.”

Shikangbu’s words were calm, lacking any resoluteness, which inevitably made people think he was only making such a request because he couldn’t survive anymore.

Jie Kui curled his lips, but didn’t speak; this type of thing had to be decided by Ye. He was also following Ye.

Ye Zhongming was not surprised. He didn’t know which race Shikangbu and Bularno had been entrusted to train by the Star Eye Clan, but it was evident that the race didn’t take the Star Eye Clan seriously. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been commissioned warriors showing disrespect to their own race.

It was likely that both of them had received some ambiguous assurances that would give them a chance to join the entrusted race or something similar.

However, reality dealt them a heavy blow. Ye Zhongming didn’t know what had happened to them, but he was certain that things hadn’t developed as they had anticipated.

Moreover, it was possible that they had been overlooked or even abandoned by that race.

In this case, for Shikangbu, seeking to team up with Ye Zhongming and Jie Kui was the best choice.

Not to mention, the abilities demonstrated by Ye Zhongming and Jie Kui had already impressed him.

Ye Zhongming had previously ranked within the top thousand, but now he was at the bottom.

“I need to know your details and information to determine if you can join us.”

Shikangbu was taken aback, thinking Ye Zhongming was intentionally making things difficult for them.

In fact, Ye Zhongming had no such interest. His goal was to establish an elite team. The team members didn’t necessarily need to have extremely strong individual abilities, but they had to have characteristics that could be useful when needed.

Without knowing Shikangbu’s background, Ye Zhongming wouldn’t include him in the team, even if he could greatly assist in the ranking of the Star Eye Clan.

His gaze was somewhat dim. In the past, Shikangbu would have simply turned to leave. Even if the person in front of him did not insult him, it could still be seen as belittling; his pride wouldn’t allow him to bow his head.

But the current situation, combined with the blows he had suffered in the past three days, seemed to have worn down Shikangbu’s edges.

He numbly stated his characteristics, including his profession and skills.

Ye Zhongming listened intently.

Soon, Shikangbu finished speaking and prepared to turn away, thinking that since the other party was just brushing him off, it was time to find an excuse for rejection, and it didn’t matter if he listened or not.

But he stopped in his tracks at the word ‘welcome.’

Shikangbu looked up in surprise at the man in front of him, momentarily not quite believing his ears.

“The next cycle is a trial period. If you pass, you will stay on as a formal member. If you fail, I’ll kill you. The points cannot be wasted; anyway, I’m already a red name.”

After saying this, Ye Zhongming looked at Shikangbu, waiting for his response.

“Okay,” Shikangbu agreed after weighing it slightly.

But it wasn’t over yet; Ye Zhongming continued, “Once you join the team, starting from the next cycle, your points will be distributed uniformly, and actions must obey my commands. If you accept, then welcome.”

Shikangbu took a deep breath, knowing what this meant… essentially handing his life over to this person.

“Can you… guarantee that I’ll survive?”

After experiencing three hellish days, Shikangbu no longer hoped for anything else; he just wanted to stay alive.

“I can only do my best,” Ye Zhongming did not provide a guarantee.

“Alright, I agree.”

“Welcome.”

……………………………………

The twelve hours of rest quickly passed, and just a few minutes remained when the novice camp saw the newly restored novices gathering again, waiting for the start of the second three-day cycle.
