Jikesu's eyes were a bit wider than usual. Clearly, despite already knowing everything, his emotions still fluctuated greatly when he expressed it again.

Ye Zhongming honestly didn't quite understand this state of mind. After all, even on Earth, there were some powerful life forms that always possessed some unfathomable abilities. For example, the Heavenly Tree from his past life, which covered an entire city, and even ninth-level life dared not enter its sphere of influence.

Even now, Ye Zhongming still didn't know why that tree was so powerful. He could only speculate that it might be a top-tier spiritual life form, but in reality, he was uncertain.

Since he understood, why was he expressing such fear? If the slave race couldn't attack, couldn't they just stay far away? Let the creators of the roulette compete with them on one planet after another!

Moreover, the All Races of the Universe could clearly provide support to the planets occupied by the slave race through various means, greatly increasing their chances of winning.

To put it bluntly, it was just a matter of wearing down the slave race, killing off its parasites batch by batch, and eventually starving the slave race to death.

At the beginning, perhaps many years ago, when the slave race first appeared, the life forms in the universe were helpless against them and were drained from one planet after another. However, as time went on, and with the emergence of the roulette, this situation should have eased or even improved.

But… Ye Zhongming recalled what Jikesu had said before: this artificial fortress was called… Survivor Five.

A sense of ominous foreboding rose in his heart.

The old man had once said that there were seven such artificial fortresses…

"So, all hope can only be placed on the roulette," Jikesu said wearily, leaning softly against his chair and turning off the uncomfortable light barrier. He then spoke softly, "The roulette has its own rules. What are the rules? They are finding the weaknesses of the slave race and then exploiting them. That's what we call rules."

"What are the rules then?" Jikesu said sarcastically, "Using some special technology, projecting some intentions of all races onto the target planets of the slave race through an agent system, making them prepare in advance. Sneakily providing some rewards to these agents, while keeping a safe distance, fearing that the slave race would discover them and launch an attack."

"And then everything is left to fate."

The last sentence was said by Jikesu in a very dispirited manner, which Ye Zhongming didn't quite understand.

"We can know the slave race's movement routes in advance, and we can set up arrangements early on, giving the life forms on the target planets time to prepare. We can even deliver some supplies to the target planets. To put it in the words of our home planet, we have all the advantages of timing, geography, and harmony, but why are you so downcast?"

Jikesu smiled. Although it was still a bitter smile, there was a hint of comfort in it.

He was quite satisfied with Ye Zhongming using the word 'we'.

"Downcast? If you knew that we have never won against the slave race until now, merely delaying the destruction of target planets, would you feel downcast?"

"Downcast? If you knew that finding agents and transporting supplies requires enormous amounts of energy and comes at a great cost, would you feel downcast?"

"Downcast? If you knew that your home planet would eventually perish and no effort on your part could prevent it, would you feel downcast?"

Ye Zhongming opened his mouth slightly, his eyes wide.

It had been a long time since he felt such shock. Back in the national district, there really wasn't much that could astonish him.

Timing, geography, and harmony, and yet no victories?

An agent system and transporting supplies, and yet they couldn't even protect a single planet?

What on earth was this?

"I know you can't understand, but that's the reality," Jikesu said as he stood up, signaling for Ye Zhongming to walk with him.
