Aslan was the first to burst out of the conference room.
However, just as she stepped out of the headquarters and was about to spread her wings to fly, she was abruptly pulled back by a man in colorful attire.
"Let go!" Aslan shouted angrily, turning to glare at the man.
"No," the colorful man replied firmly. He knew exactly what Aslan intended to do, and he couldn't allow it.
"Why not?" Eislan replied, her anger boiling over, causing the feathers on her wings to bristle.
"Why are you so furious?"
This question left Aslan momentarily stunned, and she looked at the man with a bewildered expression. "Isn't it justified? We offered him benefits, yet he concealed half of the truth. What does he take us for? Shouldn’t such garbage be punished?!"
Aslan's fury was ignited after hearing the elder's analysis.
That elder was the chief technology officer of the Star Eye Clan, responsible for the entire race's skills, manufacturing, planting, production, and so forth.
In the chaotic universe, two types of people held the highest status: one was the skilled warriors and outstanding commanders, while the other was high-level technical personnel like the elder, who could manufacture technology or accurately analyze and modify abilities.
In the Star Eye Clan, apart from the two clan leaders, the highest-ranking individual was not Commander Cheng Liuji, who commanded the golden masked warriors, but rather the elder named Jikesu.
As for the burly man standing next to the elder, his status was somewhat similar to the colorful man, yet their ranks were worlds apart. The man was the training commander of all Star Eye warriors, responsible for teaching and improving combat capabilities, which allowed him to stand on equal footing with Cheng Liuji. The colorful man was merely a training commander of a rookie camp, making him incomparable.
"It should be, but I’m the one who was deceived, not you. Why are you so agitated?"
Aslan widened her eyes, a hint of confusion on her face. Yes, shouldn’t it be the colorful man who was more furious?
"You were the one who trained that rookie garbage. Regardless of whether he truly concealed part of the improved technology or not, you deserve credit for it. On the other hand, I'm the one responsible for the transaction, so I’m the one at fault here. I should be the one angry."
Faced with the calm demeanor of the colorful man, Aslan was momentarily at a loss for words. After a while, she finally said, "He deceived the entire Star Eye Clan. Every clan member should feel outraged!"
The colorful man shook his head. "If he passes the test, he will also be a member of the Star Eye Clan, our companion. Therefore, he has the right to retain the technology he innovated. Plus, if he hands the technology over to the clan, what do you think will be our compensation? A little care or a mimetic weapon, of which we only have eighty thousand out of a million?"
"To be honest, what we offered him was indeed insufficient. We were merely bullying him because of his garbage status, but..."
The colorful man took a deep breath. He felt that since there were no immediate plans to transfer Aslan from her position, and it was likely intended for her to gain experience for taking over his role, it was necessary to clarify things with her to avoid affecting her development and the functioning of the camp.
"If it were in the past, we could have punished him for his concealment, which infringed on our authority and dignity. But Aslan, do you think the concepts of authority and dignity can apply to how other races view us?"
"You... does what you're saying relate to today's events?" Aslan stammered, flustered. Although she knew the clan was facing difficulties due to her status and the invisible protection it afforded her, her understanding of their predicament was not profound.
Not knowing much naturally meant she wouldn't have a strong sense of crisis.
Hearing someone suddenly discuss this with her caught Aslan off guard.
"We cannot, we are no longer the Star Eye Clan of the past. We are no longer the Assassins' Alliance that other races would shudder at the mention of. They now prefer to call us dirty killers, cowardly weaklings who can only hide like parasites in the dark!"
