“Ali! Babah! Mansur!” Su Haile's roar echoed in the luxurious hall.
However, none of the noblemen called responded to him.
Despair was gradually eroding Su Haile's heart.
Had these people been bought off by Abba? How had this dirty black man managed to do it? And did His Majesty truly make them harbor such animosity? Why was everyone like this?
“Where is your noble honor?! What about your oaths from the past?! Are you really willing to give up your souls for a black man with not a trace of noble blood?!”
Su Haile made one last effort, hoping to awaken some conscience within the crowd with his furious shouts. As long as one person wavered, there might still be a chance!
After all, though most of these people were seven-star evolvers, there were a few who were eight-star. Even if their combat experience was minimal, if they could truly help, creating just one opportunity would suffice.
But to Su Haile’s disappointment, no one moved or spoke; his agitation had no effect.
This loyal evolver, devoted to Ahmed, felt his heart sink deeper into the abyss.
Was he the only one loyal to the king?
No!
Just as Su Haile had lost all hope, he suddenly disregarded the dagger pressed against his neck and turned sharply to one side, ignoring the sharp green-grade dagger that had left a cut on his skin.
“Little Prince! You need to act!”
Everyone else might have betrayed the king, but there was one person who wouldn’t, and that was the little prince, His Majesty's biological son, the future heir of the Holy City; he had no reason to betray.
However, what he saw was a face that was cold... no, it seemed to carry a hint of excitement.
“You're overthinking it, Su Haile.” The little prince smirked, stepping forward to pat Su Haile's face, “Do you know how old this old guy is? Yet he clings to his position. If the Holy City had been handed over to me sooner, would those easterners have been able to get in? Before they even approached within a hundred kilometers of the Holy City, I would have annihilated them! He has wasted far too much time and resources, made too many foolish decisions. Fortunately, the Lord sees all; he will be replaced.”
There was a sickly flush on the little prince's face as he shifted his body to allow Su Haile to see Ahmed standing with his back to them.
“The Holy City is nice, but it’s too small, like a cage that confines us all. Only recently did I realize that there are broader horizons waiting for me to conquer.” The little prince seemed lost in thought, excitement growing on his face.
“That old man relies on the Lord to be a nine-star evolver, yet he is only an incomplete being. Why? Because he is too cowardly, lacking any ambition, only understanding pleasure, and abandoning great opportunities!”
From his tone, one would hardly guess that Ahmed was his biological father.
“Today is an opportunity. For some reason, Abba activated the gifts left by the Lords and obtained the incomplete abilities of the old man’s nine-star evolver. Just wait a moment, and Abba will become a complete nine-star evolver. Those outside, heh, will pay the price.”
Su Haile was initially stunned, but soon realized that Abba had pulled the dagger from the back of His Majesty, inching closer. He roared repeatedly, filling his mouth with curses against the little prince and other nobles, reminding them that there were three or four ninth-level beings among the easterners outside. What could a complete nine-star evolver do against that?
The little prince frowned. He had been intently watching Abba’s movements, but Su Haile’s shouting made him feel very irritated.
Suddenly, he seized the hands of Walid and Nayef and pulled with force, plunging two daggers deep into Su Haile’s neck.
The screams naturally ceased.
“Too noisy.”
Su Haile’s body lost strength, gradually collapsing to the ground. Due to the angle, he could no longer see His Majesty; the last scene he could perceive was that everyone around him had turned their backs on his dying form, their faces filled with excitement and anticipation, as if something they were looking forward to was about to happen.
