“What's wrong with that?” Ahmed smiled as he watched the busy evolvers beside him, repeating, “Go ahead, do it.”
Su Haile bowed and turned, jumping directly from the palace. As he fell halfway down, a pair of wings suddenly unfolded from his back, and his body began to glide. With a flap of his wings, he flew far into the sky.
“I actually want to try whether we can defeat those Easterners outside with the power we currently have. However, at my age, I’m past the time for reckless disputes, so it's better to let it go. You guys have accompanied me for many years, and I still want you to stay with me.”
At this point, the people beside him saluted the king, expressing their respect and gratitude.
“But I am the king here, and I cannot let those who just struck us feel too arrogant. Meanwhile, the little prince has grown up; he is no longer that child who only knew how to indulge in pleasures. He needs to prove his abilities through some actual actions, so that my position can be smoothly handed over to him in the future.”
After saying that, his gaze, which seemed unfocused moments ago, suddenly fell on the people below, capturing their various expressions in an instant.
Whether those below were delighted, suspicious, or surprised, all were startled under such a gaze, quickly replacing their expressions with submission.
Ahmed’s eyes turned cold, and he ceased to speak. No one knew whether his words at this moment were true or false.
“Your Highness the Prince.”
Su Haile landed near the City Lord's Mansion at a camp that differed from other places in the Holy City; it resembled a sacrificial altar, elevated significantly above the ground.
On the elevated platform, Su Haile glanced at the many items covered by sand-colored canvases and then entered a brightly lit building in the corner.
Before he stepped inside, he was met with the strong scent of alcohol and boisterous laughter.
He sighed slightly in his heart, thankful that it was the apocalypse, allowing the old City Lord to live for many years. Otherwise, with such an heir, it truly diminished the desire to pledge loyalty. This prince was even less capable than the dead big prince from before.
“Your Highness, I bring the king's orders.” Regardless of his thoughts, Su Haile expressed himself very respectfully, not entering the room but beginning to report from outside.
“Come in.”
A signature sultry voice beckoned him inside. Su Haile looked up to see the little prince seated high at the head of a vast hall, surrounded by four voluptuous women dressed provocatively, serving him fine wine and delicious food. Below were several of the prince's friends, all children of noble families from the Holy City, with similar frivolous behavior.
This was an important weapons base, yet the person in charge was so lax in drinking and revelry, especially since the enemy was already at the city gates!
Indeed, this might stem from everyone's confidence in repelling the invaders. However, the saying that castles are breached from within applies in any era. Without Jannadrah, some of his remnants still remained. Were they not afraid they would sneak up and destroy those powerful yet exceedingly fragile weapons?
Su Haile scoffed internally while conveying the orders with his mouth.
Upon hearing Su Haile's words, the little prince pushed away the women beside him, displaying an obvious emotion on his face.
It wasn't impatience but disdain.
“Tell the king that I will immediately give those outside a lesson. What the air force failed to achieve, I can accomplish.”
Having said that, he walked out with his garments left open.
Two female attendants, slightly tipsy, clung to him. Their evolver levels were only one-star, and after who knew how long of drinking this specially brewed strong liquor for evolvers, they were in a heightened state of excitement. They tried to pull the little prince back to continue drinking with them.
“Do you not want to part with me?” The little prince chuckled, suddenly gripping the necks of the two women. “Then let’s fight for the Holy City together.”
