Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1713: Good Things (Part 1) 🌟

Avoidance was directly responsible to Ye Zhongming. When he wasn't around, the heads of the two departments under Avoidance, namely the Intelligence Department and the Action Team, had the authority to make decisions.

Only when matters involved the Cloud Summit Villa's headquarters or when the situation was significant enough that the two heads themselves hesitated to make a decision would they contact Cloud Summit and reach out to Xia Lei for discussion.

Of course, the intelligence sent to Cloud Summit every few days remained unchanged, and the protection of important support figures within Cloud Summit Villa, such as Le Da Yuan, Liu Zhenghong, Park Soo-young, and Tang Guo, would not slacken.

No one knew who was sent by Avoidance to protect these people, but if there were situations that the Cloud Summit Team couldn't handle, they would step in.

So far, these important figures from Cloud Summit hadn't encountered any dangers that warranted the intervention of the protectors, so naturally, no one knew who they were.

When Xia Lei and the others heard this news for the first time, shock surged through them, and a rising killing intent appeared on their faces.

Although Avoidance wasn't technically the same department as the headquarters, they were both aligned with Cloud Summit; if they faced troubles, it meant Cloud Summit was in trouble too.

"Which district?" Guangyao, who hailed from the Resistance District, asked.

Although he had little to do with that side now, his hatred lingered. When it came to knowledge about the Resistance District, Guangyao was the most informed person.

"C District."

The intelligence point from Avoidance was originally monitoring C District.

"Are the casualties serious?" Xia Lei understood that her man would make the decisions on other matters; her job was to handle the aftermath.

"More than a dozen people, along with some equipment."

Many of Avoidance’s bases had various teleportation devices, which everyone knew were quite valuable.

"Boss, let’s hit them hard!"

Tong Hu patted his chest, his eyes filled with eagerness.

Little Tiger on the side chuckled, and when he saw Ye Zhongming glance over, he quickly withdrew his finger, as if it wasn’t him who had just poked Tong Hu to take a stand.

Faced with the fervor of the crowd, Ye Zhongming didn’t make an immediate decision but furrowed his brows and pondered: "What gave the Resistance District the courage to provoke us? Is it just a weapon on the roulette? That weapon, is it really that impressive? If so, why don’t they directly attack us at Cloud Summit Villa? Why only target a small outpost?"

No one could provide an answer to the boss's questions.

"The Temple of Dawn over there has teamed up with the West Asia Holy City and swallowed our teleportation point leading to that area."

Xia Lei touched her snow-white fingers and suddenly spoke.

Ye Zhongming nodded.

His woman’s meaning was quite clear; she wanted to say whether there was any connection between the two matters.

"Have all the Temple of Dawn Warriors who have been taking mercenary jobs on our end returned?"

Ye Zhongming quickly grasped the crux; whether these warriors had been recalled strategically or stayed here could yield completely different answers.

"Some have left, but some remain."

Liang Chuyin was quite familiar with this aspect, as she essentially managed the affairs of Puxing Town. She recalled and responded.

Evidently, there would be no answers from this angle.

Without teleportation devices, they couldn’t rush to Central Asia in a short time. Were they doing this simply to prevent Cloud Summit from expanding its influence over there? Or was there another reason?

For a moment, Ye Zhongming couldn’t make sense of it either.

Seeing that Ye Zhongming had nothing more to say, Xia Lei began to recount some recent events.

"Five Rings Society wants to meet with me, in their way?"

This statement sounded somewhat awkward, but everyone understood what it meant.

Currently, Five Rings Society, while nominally an organization, was essentially in a state of several stewards acting independently. The good news was that they were cooperating rather than opposing each other.
