Ten types of cards, the most notable ones, apart from the last three, are the Angel Card and the Demon Card.
Cards like the Advance Card and Lai Lai Card only offer a chance to seize opportunities, and their effects are not as direct. The Angel Card is different; it can directly enhance the combat power of a team. Even more valuable, angels can be upgraded and follow the team indefinitely, making it the most cost-effective option.
In contrast, the Demon Card, while also upgradable, comes at a cost, which can discourage evolvers. Previously, when various cards were being purchased, the Angel Cards were the first to be sold out. As for who got them, apart from those who actually succeeded, no one knows. Now, the first of the five Angel Cards has appeared.
A life form resembling the angels described in Earth's legends emerged above the camp of evolvers in Great America. With a pair of pure white wings gently flapping, its body was covered in feathers of the same color. It had a human-like physique with slightly elongated arms, holding a sharp spear and a beautiful round shield in its hands.
As soon as it appeared, the angel pointed at an injured evolver, and a beam of light shot from her fingertip, instantly healing many of the evolver's wounds.
Simultaneously, its bright eyes scanned the surrounding marshes, and suddenly it tilted its head back and spat out a pearl. The pearl floated in the air, dissipating the surrounding fog and clarifying the vision.
"There!"
No matter how fast the Guardian Beast was, when it emerged from the numerous water pits in the marsh, there would be some disturbance. Previously, the evolvers found it hard to notice due to the fog, but now they could see clearly. Even a small warning was enough for others to respond.
This single action turned the tide of the situation.
The Black Peach Governor laughed heartily, a hint of wickedness in his eyes as he swept over the angel in the air, then unexpectedly licked his lips.
After a brief pause, the Guardian Beast resumed its attack, this time not emerging from the water pits but from beneath a pile of mud.
It charged out, splattering mud everywhere, obstructing the vision of many evolvers. It quickly seized one person, trying to drag them into the water pit like before.
But the angel in the air and several other powerful evolvers acted.
The Black Peach Governor, who was originally standing at the center of the group surrounded by his most trusted aides, spotted the shadow of the Guardian Beast. Without a single visible movement, he darted through the gaps in the crowd and struck the side of the Guardian Beast with a punch just as it was retreating.
Several scattered attacks followed, but most missed, with only a crossbow bolt grazing the Guardian Beast's head and taking away a small piece of flesh.
The defense was ordinary!
Many people reached the same conclusion.
That was merely a silver-grade crossbow bolt; although the weapon was green, its power was not too strong.
The angel's attack also came. Instead of flying down, she shot beams of light from her eyes. One beam missed, while the other struck the shoulder of the exposed Guardian Beast.
The two attacks—the light beam and the Black Peach's punch—arrived almost simultaneously. The Guardian Beast leaned to the side, and the evolver it had captured fell along with it. When more attacks came, they all landed on the evolver, quickly silencing the one who had been screaming.
Many rushed forward, ignoring the potentially lifeless evolver as they created a large pit in that spot.
"Disappeared?"
Everyone let go of the evolver, now looking like minced meat, only to find that beneath its body lay a pool of blood that was clearly not from an evolver.
"Ah!"
A scream erupted from behind. The crowd turned to see an arm twisting upwards from a nearby water pit.
Another evolver had been captured by the Guardian Beast.
This time, even the angel above showed no reaction.
"Governor, can you control it?" one person asked, their face contorted. The evolver who just died was their younger brother.
