Chapter 1606: Ninth Level in the Sea 🌊

Published: February 12, 2025

The surface of the sea began to bubble intensely at a certain moment. Even though the area of the seawater was not large, people could feel something rapidly rising from the depths.

Both the battle teams on either side and the Cloud Summit Villa moving quickly over the floating ice hastened their pace; they knew that the terrifying creature was about to emerge from the water.

The soldiers of the red dress guard next to the father’s battle team grabbed these few individuals and threw them out. Those who had enough distance landed directly on the ice surface, while those who didn’t had someone in front to catch them before being thrown onto the ice.

Each soldier of the red dress guard had a battle beast. Some, who had talents in speed or could glide or leap for a short time, quickly sped across the exposed sea surface with their masters.

Ye Zhongming was the first to run out, but along the way, he kept helping his subordinates, most of whom were from the Youth Army, as their evolutionary levels were relatively low and their speed inadequate.

The bubbles in the seawater grew more numerous and dense, as if the seawater were boiling. At this moment, even the lowest-level evolver could clearly sense the existence of that life form. When Ye Zhongming focused his vision into the depths of the water, he could already spot a massive shadow rapidly ascending.

Most of the Cloud Summit members had already crossed over the sea surface and reached the ice on the other side, quickly retreating into the distance. However, there were still some who had not yet escaped.

The reasons were varied; for instance, the ice blocks shattered under the force of many evolvers, losing their leverage, or they drifted out of position and needed to jump several times.

Regardless of the factors, it meant that they could not reach the ice surface before the ninth-level life emerged from the sea.

Moreover, Ye Zhongming did not believe that this ninth-level life would fully extend its body above the surface before attacking. He estimated that once the evolvers entered its range of attack, they would face ruthless assaults.

In fact, if these people were given a few more seconds, they could reach safety on land. But in an apocalypse where everyone is a superhuman and every monster is a divine beast, a few seconds could feel like a century.

Ye Zhongming stopped, the Shattered Soul Bone Staff appearing in his hand, and he unleashed an attack into the water below.

His mental energy, once abundant, suddenly dropped to just a quarter.

Then, Ye Zhongming didn’t look at the result; he focused on helping his subordinates escape as quickly as possible.

After the last Cloud Summit warrior was thrown to safety, the surface of the sea behind him suddenly exploded. Countless water jets shot out like arrows, and a deep, angry roar resonated through the air, causing sound waves to spread out, knocking down many low-level evolvers.

A massive shadow, so large it made one feel insignificant, erupted from the sea, reaching dozens of meters high. Ye Zhongming protected his vital areas as he was propelled backward by the impact of the water jets and air waves.

Taking advantage of this brief moment, Ye Zhongming looked back and saw a monstrous creature emerging from the surface; it resembled a giant seahorse, with eight fleshy wings behind it. It was unclear whether they were for swimming or true flight.

Its enormous head was adorned with ten rows of eyes, with one area bleeding—clearly a result of being struck by the Shattered Soul Bone Staff.

As the furious sea monster emerged, those eight fleshy wings began to flap, transforming the sky. The deadly winds that once posed a threat seemed frozen in place, forming a visible tornado. Then the horizontal tornado quickly stood upright, connecting with the sea surface, and began to spin violently, sucking the seawater into the vortex. As the water rose, the tornado was frozen in place, and by the time Ye Zhongming landed, eight massive ice tornadoes appeared, seemingly linking heaven and earth.
