Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1598: Dance of the Magic Silk (Volume 1) ✨

It was still the underground cave in Yakutsk, but this time, Xia Bai was alongside Ye Zhongming.

In their hands, they were dragging a few people: Achinas, Peijia, Donis, Rustig, Apudu, and the corpse of Helander.

The black cat looked at Ye Zhongming as he entered, revealing a hint of ease in its eyes. Before Ye Zhongming left, the black cat had no idea what he was doing. If he were to disappear without a trace, it would have no way to help. The only thing it could do was stay here with its master, hoping for that almost nonexistent miracle.

Xia Bai observed the situation in the cave, and even her usually expressionless face showed some emotion.

Even though the spirit woman was a zombie, she had fought alongside Cloud Summit. Seeing her former comrades imprisoned in such a manner made her mood far from good.

Ye Zhongming first took a look around the cave and, finding no changes, tossed Helander's corpse towards a corner where the white silk was.

The corpse bounced a few times on the silk before falling to the ground.

The three of them, along with the black cat, watched at the cave entrance.

Initially, the white silk didn’t move, as if it had no interest in dead matter. However, after a moment, a strand of white silk emerged from the magic crystal and slowly slithered towards the corpse, touching it twice with its tip before wrapping around it.

The protrusions that had pierced Red Hair's body slowly entered Helander's corpse as well.

After a few seconds, the white silk in the entire cave began to tremble gently.

Ye Zhongming, Xia Bai, and the black cat took a step back.

This thing was about to evolve to the ninth level soon; after absorbing nutrients, who knew if it would attack them.

Helander's corpse was quickly drained, and the white silk seemed somewhat reluctant, moving back and forth over the already desiccated body as if searching for any leftover delicacies.

Ye Zhongming kept his eyes on the magic crystal, noticing that the silver on it had deepened slightly.

At the same time, he observed the spirit woman, looking for a potential opportunity that might arise at any moment.

The black cat, having witnessed what had just happened, started to understand Ye Zhongming’s intentions. Looking at the other severely injured but immobile captives, its eyes began to brighten.

Except for the unconscious Apudu, the other captives were awake. They were horrified to see such terrifying life beneath the city, to witness Ye Zhongming interacting with an eight-star mutated black cat in trust, and to see that they seemed to want to save that eight-star zombie. They all felt their heads spinning, unable to comprehend this complex relationship.

But one thing was clear to them: they were nutrient bodies, meant to feed the white silk!

Fear gradually took over their bodies.

Perhaps they were not afraid of death; when they killed, they always imagined that one day they would also be killed.

From the first day of the apocalypse, they had been prepared for death.

But this did not mean they were willing to die in such a manner!

Being drained to a husk, enduring endless pain before death, was unbearable just to think about.

They began to struggle, but their broken limbs only allowed limited movement. They looked at Ye Zhongming, signaling him.

“Reattach our jaws,” Achinas said weakly. “Perhaps we can exchange many, many things for our lives.”

In medieval Europe, such a method was not uncommon. Faced with this horrifying death, the leader of the human alliance simply wanted to survive.

“We… have many, many things you cannot imagine…”

“Are you talking about these?”

Ye Zhongming interrupted Rustig, raising several pieces of spatial equipment.

These were items he had searched from these people; having defeated them, it was only natural to loot.

Spatial equipment bears the mental imprint of its user. It sounds impressive, but it's simply an application of mental power, equivalent to signing a small exclusive usage contract between a person and the equipment, preventing others from opening it.
