Chapter 1570: The Good and Bad of Dual Fate ⚖️

Published: February 12, 2025

The Shattered Soul Bone Staff erupted with the most brilliant light, nearly touching the back of the snow wolf king!

However, this light burst forth suddenly and ended just as abruptly; it appeared and then vanished in an instant. Ye Zhongming let out a muffled groan as his body staggered back against the energy gate.

Everything happened too quickly for anyone to see clearly what had actually occurred.

If it were to be replayed slowly, one would witness a continuous duel between two fierce lifeforms ascending to higher levels.

Ye Zhongming appeared silently from the energy gate without moving his feet, instead using his teleportation ability to position himself behind the snow wolf king, even as the brief moment passed, the charging of the Shattered Soul Bone Staff had already begun.

By the time the staff was extremely close to the snow wolf king's body, it had completed a significant portion of its charge. After a brief pause, it erupted with that blinding light once more.

In a breath’s time, the King of Cloud Summit had completed his attack.

For any other lifeform, this would have been an almost insurmountable blow. No lifeform of the same level could survive a direct hit from the Shattered Soul Bone Staff—especially when the spirals were fully illuminated!

Yet the snow wolf king survived because it was a ninth-level lifeform.

In order to maximize the power of the Shattered Soul Bone Staff, Ye Zhongming paused for a moment as he approached the wolf king. This brief moment allowed the ninth-level lifeform a chance to react; its body, which was already on the ground, strangely sprang forward, avoiding the most fatal impact to its head.

The thick beam of light from the Shattered Soul Bone Staff struck its midsection.

A massive blood hole appeared in the body of the ninth-level snow wolf king.

It was a complete penetrating injury; if the snow wolf king’s body had not been sufficiently robust, this beam of light could have easily severed it in two.

Moreover, had Ye Zhongming fully unleashed the power of the Shattered Soul Bone Staff, it would have been sufficient to obliterate the snow wolf king, even though it was a ninth-level lifeform.

However, the snow wolf king’s reaction truly exemplified the prowess of a ninth-level lifeform. It first felt the threat and instinctively leaped forward, then, undamaged, its front paw, twisting in an uncanny manner, swung back towards Ye Zhongming.

At that distance and with the position of the snow wolf king, it couldn't directly attack Ye Zhongming's body; its paw struck the Shattered Soul Bone Staff held in front of Ye Zhongming, causing a deflection of the weapon.

Simultaneously, another snow wolf king appeared beside Ye Zhongming at an astonishing speed, slamming a paw onto Ye Zhongming's back.

Both the Shattered Soul Bone Staff and his body were attacked, halting this attack abruptly.

Ye Zhongming immediately dove back into the energy gate.

The arriving snow wolf king did not wish to directly grab Ye Zhongming's head; however, when it attacked, the King of Cloud Summit made an extreme reaction, arching his back, extending his head and arms forward to protect his vital parts as well as the attack from the Shattered Soul Bone Staff.

From Ye Zhongming’s perspective, this action had no flaws. Whether it was the lightning sand monster or Red Hair, along with the current ability from his bloodline, "Gate of Nowhere," all moved to establish combat initiative.

Ye Zhongming understood very well that if he allowed a ninth-level lifeform to attack freely, he and Red Hair would not be able to withstand it no matter what.

He found an opportunity to use the Shattered Soul Bone Staff, aiming for a successful strike to kill the ninth-level lifeform; otherwise, with his diminished mental energy, he would inevitably fall into a disadvantage in the ensuing battle, and if not careful, he could be defeated and killed.

Thus, Ye Zhongming did not want to easily give up this opportunity and chose to endure with his back.

However, from the snow wolf king's perspective, regardless of whether its claw struck Ye Zhongming's head or back, the outcome would be the same: it could rip this human apart.
