Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1496: Inheritance Orb 🌌

Published: February 12, 2025

The mouth of the Nine-Winged Crow suddenly opened, revealing a long tongue that lunged toward the Armored King. The head of this Earth’s number one mutated life form was pierced without any ability to resist. Then, visibly, the tongue of the Nine-Winged Crow began to turn blood-red, and the wounds on its body seemed to be healing.

Once the Nine-Winged Crow had regained its strength, even if it was only one-third of its power, it was enough to wipe out everyone and all demon creatures in the vicinity.

Ye Zhongming and the others stepped back just in case, but upon witnessing this scene, they decided it was time to take action.

There was no other choice; if something unexpected occurred, this operation would truly fail.

"Don't worry about it, it’s fine."

The monster commander suddenly transmitted such a message to Ye Zhongming.

Ye Zhongming was puzzled and fixed his gaze on the commander. If it couldn’t provide a reasonable explanation, he would take action against the Nine-Winged Crow.

The Cloud Summit had indeed exhausted its ammunition against the millions of demon creatures, but the supplies prepared for the ninth-level life had yet to be used.

"It’s leaving a legacy, giving... the king a chance like this."

The tone was somewhat pleading, which made many core members of the Cloud Summit sneer. Just a moment ago, when he realized something was wrong, he immediately betrayed them; they hadn't seen such warmth from him then.

"I don’t want a ninth-level life legacy to come back and take revenge on me!"

As he spoke, Ye Zhongming waved his hand.

The Cloud Summit was going to act.

"That won't happen." The monster commander hurriedly stopped Ye Zhongming. “The legacy is just a unique bloodline continuation of the ninth-level life; only the bloodline can be passed down. Other aspects, like consciousness, thoughts, or even form, are completely new.”

“It’s like…”

The monster commander sounded anxious and didn't know how to describe it. After pausing for two seconds, he added, “It’s like how you humans leave some evidence of existence in this world when you reproduce.”

“Let me handle it.”

Perhaps fearing he wouldn’t be able to persuade Ye Zhongming, the monster commander approached the Nine-Winged Crow. This made the Cloud Summit hold their attacks, observing the situation.

Seeing his once most trusted subordinate approach, the Nine-Winged Crow let out a disdainful cry. The monster commander vibrated the sides of its head to communicate with the Nine-Winged Crow, but the humans couldn’t understand this, and their wariness did not diminish.

In the end, it was unclear how the two monsters communicated, but suddenly, the Nine-Winged Crow moved one of its wings and sent the monster commander flying far away.

Even though it was gravely injured and near death, its power was still immense. The monster commander, being a mental life form, had a fragile body, and this hit left it severely wounded, with dozens of cuts all over, its purple blood staining its entire body.

However, the monster commander stood up again and returned to the Nine-Winged Crow's side. This time, not only were the sides of its head moving, but its mouth also made sounds, appearing quite anxious.

The Nine-Winged Crow, however, ignored it and proudly supported its body.

Previously, when it lay on the ground, everyone hadn’t paid it much attention. Now standing up, they could see the Nine-Winged Crow's massive body covered in enormous wounds, the smallest of which was larger than an adult male human, and the largest one even spanned half of its abdomen, measuring several dozen meters.

It raised its head, its entire body trembling, and after a reluctant cry from the monster commander, it tilted its head back and expelled a blood-red orb.

Ye Zhongming's expression shifted; he had an inkling of what was happening.

This orb should represent the Nine-Winged Crow's legacy, perhaps something related to its bloodline or genes, symbolizing its innate talent—a talent that could evolve to the ninth level. It might even contain its last reserves of energy.
