Mu Xinfey stood in front of the window, listening to her biological daughter and her goddaughter talking behind her.
“Shishi, based on your understanding of Ye Zhongming, is he the kind of person who goes crazy and disregards his life?” Mu Xinfey pulled her best friend’s hand, frowning as she asked.
Today, Ye Zhongming's expression completely overturned the impression that man held in her heart. She didn't know which version of Ye Zhongming was the true King of Cloud Summit: the one who once negotiated rationally with her or the one who announced his crazy plan today.
Bai Shishi gathered her hair, a look of reminiscence flashing in her eyes, but then it was quickly replaced by confusion and a bit of pain.
“Xinfey, I’m not sure. It’s been many years, and since the apocalypse, I really don’t know what he has become,” Bai Shishi awkwardly patted her friend’s hand, “But he wasn’t like this before. However, ever since the apocalypse began, he has changed into someone I don’t recognize.”
Seeing her best friend’s expression, Mu Xinfey felt a pang of guilt. Bringing Bai Shishi to Cloud Summit this time was her father’s idea, similar to when Mu Xinfey brought the former girlfriend of this King of Cloud Summit to negotiate with Ye Zhongming. It was just a way to see if old feelings could influence him.
Although this intention wouldn’t come at the expense of Bai Shishi’s interests, she still felt guilty about it.
“But this plan is really too crazy. Wanting to kill the Armored King—can a normal person even think of that?” Mu Xinfey said angrily, furrowing her brows. After a moment of thought, she continued, “I’ll go ask him alone, maybe I can get some useful information.”
As she spoke, she stood up, and Bai Shishi followed suit, unsure whether she should accompany her or not.
“No need.”
Commander Mu suddenly spoke, causing Mu Xinfey, who was walking towards the door, to stop.
“Dad?”
Commander Mu turned around, waved his hand, and sat down on the sofa.
“No need to ask. We will participate.”
“Why?” Mu Xinfey anxiously sat next to her father, planning to persuade him to abandon this idea.
Having personally experienced everything along the way, she was very aware of how hard it was to accumulate what they had now and how much they had sacrificed. Aside from the political marriage, she and Commander Mu had given everything they could give.
Now, she could not bear to see this powerful battle department meaningless destroyed here.
“No matter how different Ye Zhongming was before and now, he is not a madman. At least during strategic decisions that aren’t life-or-death moments, he won’t be a madman. At his position, there are too many factors to consider when making a decision. Even if he were to go crazy, his subordinates would not go along with him.”
“Dad, you don’t understand Cloud Summit Villa. They are all fanatics who admire Ye Zhongming. For that man, they will obey any command.”
Mu Xinfey had witnessed the Cloud Summit warriors in battle, and their fervor and intensity left a deep impression on her. It seemed that no other faction in the apocalypse could fight like Cloud Summit, almost displaying 120% of their combat capabilities, not even the Rebel Zone.
She believed it was all due to their personal worship of Ye Zhongming.
Who knew that Commander Mu would shake his head.
“Daughter, Ye Zhongming may be a kind of faith for Cloud Summit, but this faith is not a religious one that allows evolvers in the apocalypse to trust blindly. This faith is more similar to a heartfelt admiration. The latter is more rational. Cloud Summit warriors may die for Ye Zhongming, but they would never make their sacrifice meaningless or follow the orders of a mad Ye Zhongming. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have reached his current position, and his subordinates wouldn’t possess such strong autonomous combat capabilities.”
Different positions and experiences lead to different perspectives when looking at problems or people. Commander Mu observed everything from a completely calm third-party perspective.
