Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1465: Single and Alone 🏞️

Published: February 12, 2025

“Those dogs from Cloud Summit have stopped their attack for about two hours, right?”

Through the window of an abandoned factory at the mountaintop, a man cautiously peered outside. He was an evolver from Guan City, a third-tier city in the southern part of Ying City. Ever since being attacked by the forces led by the Shasha Team a few days ago, this was the first time those evolvers surrounding Cloud Summit had truly ceased fighting.

The physical prowess of evolvers allowed them to fight for extended periods without rest. For the sake of victory, they engaged in continuous battles. From initial raids to head-on confrontations, and then to harassment tactics, the forms of combat constantly changed. Yet both sides remained evenly matched.

Under the organization of several bosses, various teams from Guan City united, having long anticipated Cloud Summit Villa's intentions. They not only taught the Shasha Team a lesson at the start of the fighting but also delivered strikes against the real Cloud Summit Team.

Despite the apparent imbalance in casualties—around a hundred from Cloud Summit were killed while over three hundred from their side perished—many teams viewed this as a significant victory, believing it shattered the myth of Cloud Summit's invincibility. However, the subsequent alliance between the Shasha Team and Cloud Summit Team brought great suffering to these individuals. While they didn't continuously retreat, they progressively abandoned their positions and were now close to being driven out of Guan City's territory.

“Yeah, I don’t know what’s happening.”

Inside the abandoned factory, leaders and high-ranking members of various teams from Guan City had gathered. Initially, they came to discuss upcoming battle plans, but after arriving, they encountered several influential big shots who were late. Soon after, they learned that the Cloud Summit faction had ceased its attack.

They shifted from discussing battle strategies to speculating about the intentions of Cloud Summit Villa. Someone responded, igniting a second wave of heated discussion, where everyone felt their own guesses and analyses were correct, leading to small arguments breaking out.

“Let’s not argue among ourselves. Look at what you’ve become. There are over a hundred people here, all boss-level figures. What will your subordinates think if they see you like this?”

A middle-aged man sitting on a rickety chair shouted, bringing silence to the room. He was the boss of the Reorganization Team in Guan City. Although he had not been in power for long, he held considerable influence and was one of the strongest evolvers present, having reached the seven-star level.

Around him stood or sat several notable figures from Guan City. This man stood up, glanced outside, his eyes flickering with something unusual. He walked around the factory twice, as if considering or waiting for something.

“How about this? Let’s discuss what to do next, assuming the Cloud Summit faction continues the attack.”

Upon hearing the Reorganization Team leader say this, most people gathered around him, while some remained unmoved, their faces showing discontent.

“Didn’t we just say that? Why repeat it? Is there any point in going in circles? To me, it’s unnecessary to keep deliberating. What good will it do? We’re still being beaten like dogs! We could have talked to Shasha and seen what conditions they offered. If they were suitable, why not join their team? Do we really think we’re better off maintaining our independence? Even if we don’t agree to join, leaving is also a good option. If we don’t stay, there’s always another place for us. Why struggle against them only to end up the same way?”

These individuals actually did not wish to oppose Cloud Summit and were even contemplating joining, but they had been ‘wrapped up’ in the conflict. Regardless of their willingness, they had already clashed with both the Shasha Team and Cloud Summit Team, making it impossible to return to Cloud Summit's embrace.
