Jiamin and his family, along with many nearby residents who had some acquaintance with him, gathered together to form a small group of dozens. Surrounding them were Mo Ye, Little Tiger, and a number of other evolvers, all gazing toward the East District, awaiting something.
Many fleeing survivors scattered around noticed this strange group, but upon seeing those holding white weapons, fear registered on their faces.
Suddenly, a signal flare shot up from the east, and the prepared crowd immediately sprang into action.
Little Tiger, Mo Ye, and Liang Chuyin raised their guns toward the sky and pulled the triggers. The sudden gunfire caused many around to scream and instinctively run away from the sound. The previously scattered crowd was forcibly compressed together at that moment.
Below a building in the direction they were fleeing, a large bonfire was suddenly ignited, flames leaping high and illuminating a vast area.
On the second floor of that building, Daming stood at a window, having found a loudspeaker from somewhere, and began shouting toward the crowd rushing over.
"Listen to the orders, everyone stop!"
The sound made many instinctively slow down, and the brightness from the huge bonfire dispelled some of the panic in people's hearts.
At this time, Jiamin began to bring order to the people he gathered, cooperating with Daming and shouting slogans in unison, each person holding up anything that could emit light to signal those around to stop.
The evolvers like Little Tiger played a crucial role at the beginning. Their strength was beyond what ordinary people could reach. A few of them raised their guns in front of them, directly stopping many people. Along with Daming's continuous repetition of commands to stop and listen, they slowly stabilized the situation together.
This kind of chaos in the night was just like that; if one place fell into disorder, everyone else would follow suit, very similar to ancient military camps.
But once there was light, unified command, and the long-standing influence of civilized society, people could quickly calm down.
First, dozens of people stopped fleeing, then hundreds, then thousands. Gradually, the Western District began to stabilize.
Jiamin had taken over Daming’s loudspeaker, running through the crowd, telling everyone to go back to their residences and that the base was safe, with no zombies having breached the area, among other messages. With the help of Daming and Little Tiger, the situation stabilized, and they even began organizing people to extinguish some minor fires.
Of course, some were reluctant to settle down so quickly. The previous chaos had brought them many benefits, not only food but even having tasted the sweetness of women.
For these individuals, the crowd didn’t hold back. Some women were dealt with quickly, rendering them immobile. However, Little Tiger and Liang Chuyin, who already had blood on their hands, acted more ruthlessly and killed directly.
This ferocity played a crucial role in quelling the chaos.
While the Western District was calming down, the Eastern District had not been idle. Li Qiang led a group out from Haibei Community, orderly dispersing the crowds in batches, directing people into buildings and igniting bonfires in open spaces for immediate shelter. There weren’t many people in the East District to begin with, and with sufficient manpower, their progress even outpaced that of the Western District.
At this time, Ye Zhongming was also lending significant help. The East District was originally where the evolvers lived. Those who had escaped from Ye Zhongming’s blade, along with friends and family members who had grown accustomed to bullying in these past few days, initially resisted management. However, after being brutally suppressed by Ye Zhongming, they quickly complied.
Seeing this process made Li Qiang’s eyelids twitch. Although Ye Zhongming hadn’t fully displayed his power, Li Qiang still felt a sense of fear at the young man's ability to kill one-star evolvers with such ease. He was relieved that he had wisely agreed to step up and stabilize the base earlier.
