The body of Nine Dragons turned blood red, its scales seemingly cooked, exuding steam into the air. The crystalline liquid spat out by the nine treasures formed a transparent membrane, encasing the entire figure within. The steam emitted from the scales would disappear only to rise again from the membrane, creating a bizarre sight.
The height had noticeably changed, and the momentum had significantly increased. Even the pair of golden Iron Whips in his hands appeared much more polished, devoid of any rust.
Was this... a transformation?
Perhaps that was an exaggeration, but the change in color and posture indeed provided a great visual impact.
In stark contrast to the peak momentum of Nine Dragons, the giant earthworm, Nine Treasures, appeared somewhat wilted. It lay prostrate on the ground, its body occasionally spasming, looking in a very poor state.
Suddenly, Nine Dragons let out a loud roar, his body leaping up like a cannonball. One of the Iron Whips flew from his hand with the speed of thunder, aiming at Xia Bai in the air.
The power of an evolver was already immense, and after transformation, Nine Dragons was even more so. As the Iron Whip flew away, it generated an unpleasant sound from the friction against the air. Just as this sound emerged, the weapon reached in front of Xia Bai.
Xia Bai swung the sickle in her hand, trying to deflect the Iron Whip. Strangely, just as the Iron Whip was about to collide with the sickle, it suddenly halted mid-air. Accompanied by the airflow it created, a pale yellow energy shield appeared, enveloping Xia Bai.
The speed was rapid; it nearly encased Xia Bai the moment it appeared.
Nine Dragons laughed maniacally, and another Iron Whip flew from his other hand. Upon encountering the energy shield, it merged into it, deepening the color of the shield significantly.
Then, the energy shield began to spin in the air, gaining speed.
“Thunder Cave Twisting Formation.”
This was the name of the ability, a set attribute of the weapon that needed to be activated in conjunction with the user’s abilities.
In normal circumstances, Nine Dragons couldn't use this move. It could only be activated when he was in his bloodline transformation state and had undergone Nine Treasures’—Power Nourishment, another combined technique.
This was, so far, the most powerful offensive skill Nine Dragons possessed.
Faced with the immense pressure Xia Bai brought him, he had no choice but to unleash his full strength.
The Iron Whip spun the energy shield around. As their speed increased, changes began to appear within the energy shield.
Some currents resembling winding little snakes emerged, continuously growing closer to Xia Bai.
Even from behind the light barrier, the observers could feel the tremendous power contained in the energy ball.
Was this to decide the outcome with a single blow?
At the same time, they were quite confused. Clearly, the woman called Xia Bai possessed incredible speed, yet she did not evade? Even if she ultimately failed to dodge, she didn’t attempt to?
Amidst these doubts, everyone saw Xia Bai extend her finger, slowly reaching towards a stream of electricity that had turned yellow.
Had this woman gone mad?
Shouldn't she be trying every means to escape? Perhaps using the fleeting moment before these currents attacked?
Like her previous lack of attempts to evade, everyone struggled to comprehend Xia Bai's thoughts.
Finally, her pale finger touched the electric current. Xia Bai's body trembled slightly, her long hair and the feathers on her outspread wings fluttering up a bit.
Xia Bai retracted her finger and brought it close to her eyes. On it was a tiny hole with a droplet of blood forming on the tip.
"Fool."
If she heard correctly, those two words came from Nine Dragons below, watching Xia Bai trapped.
Rather than sucking her finger, Xia Bai gently flicked it, sending the droplet of blood flying, tracing an unremarkable but normal arc in the air.
Originally, the spectators’ gaze remained on Xia Bai, but soon shifted to the blood droplet she had tossed.
