Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1388: Fireworks 🎆

Published: February 12, 2025

Is it because the Guan Cheng Village Laboratory has now mastered the technology to control zombies? Or is everything being done on the mutated chimpanzees a precursor to that terrifying technology?

Ye Zhongming kept evaluating in his mind, but unfortunately, he was not a scientist and could not discern whether the technology was the same or different just by looking at the surface.

However, seeing this scene made him feel uncomfortable, and his long-developed sensitivity triggered an alert in his mind.

Of course, he was not the kind of person who would flee miles away at the slightest disturbance, but his cautious habit still made his hand move, making a concealed gesture.

Xia Bai and the others behind him saw this gesture, and their pupils contracted sharply.

They felt nothing!

But they believed Ye Zhongming far more than they trusted themselves.

“I request to begin the battle!” David raised his hand, signaling that his experimental subjects were ready for the third match.

Li Daqian snorted and looked at Guan Cheng Village.

The director of the dark laboratory felt a bit awkward but still made a gesture to reassure Li Daqian while also indicating that his experimental subjects were ready.

“Are you sure?”

Li Daqian knew that even if Guan Cheng Village lost the third match, he would absolutely not agree to hand over the two pieces of golden equipment. His good friend, Mr. Wen, would keep an eye on those two pieces of equipment for him, whether out of friendship or because the Purple Stabilizing Kun Needle was in his hands.

But that would ultimately lead to him publicly going back on his word, damaging his reputation, and whatever he did in the future would inevitably be influenced by this matter.

If possible, he would prefer to win this battle openly and reclaim the equipment with dignity.

However, Guan Cheng Village's actions were truly making him lose confidence. Was this guy really so sure he could win the match using this inconspicuous ointment?

So he asked Guan Cheng Village in a way that could almost be considered a public reminder.

The four-legged laboratory director nodded, saying, “Absolutely.”

Li Daqian suppressed the urge to curse and announced the start of the third match.

David immediately controlled their thirty experimental subjects to move forward, their synchronized steps and full heavy armor making these mutated black star beasts resemble a well-trained army.

On the other side, the experimental subjects from the Guan Cheng Village Laboratory, who had completed the drug injections, also moved forward, but their steps were somewhat chaotic, emitting faint grunting sounds as if they were in extreme pain.

Many from the national district felt embarrassed and covered their faces, unable to continue watching.

They could accept failure, but this seemingly perfunctory behavior made them feel angry.

They were being treated as if their feelings of unity against a common enemy meant nothing.

Ye Zhongming, however, remained seated, his gaze not even acknowledging the imposing thirty mutated chimpanzees from the Alamos Laboratory. Instead, he focused on the seemingly feeble experimental subjects from Guan Cheng Village, observing the changes in their heads...

“Look, the chimpanzees from the Guan Cheng Village Laboratory, their heads...”

“What the hell is that thing!”

“Seriously, what is growing over there?”

“Do you guys smell something foul? It seems to be coming from them.”

“Look, those ointments are falling off!”

“That's so disgusting!”

Soon, others began to notice, just like Ye Zhongming, that the heads of the twenty experimental subjects from Guan Cheng Village Laboratory were undergoing severe changes. The areas where the ointments were attached gradually bulged as if something was swelling inside. Before long, the ointments fell to the ground, and the spots that had been covered grew large flesh lumps, dark red in color with some bluish-purple veins. They seemed to be pulsating, perhaps in sync with the heart, and with each pulse, a viscous green liquid dripped to the ground, causing the grass beneath to wilt immediately, clearly indicating that the liquid was highly toxic.
