“Late, two-in-one~~”
The roar of countless cannons may seem exaggerated, but when all the weapons of Cloud Summit fired at once, it created a tremendous visual shock for anyone witnessing the scene.
With few firearms present, this attack feast dominated by magic crystal weapons did not generate much smoke or dust aside from the previous trap explosion, which allowed for a clear line of sight.
However, because of this clarity, the blood, severed limbs, and twisted corpses appeared hauntingly real before them.
With an orderly retreat, the pressure faced by the Cloud Summit warriors only increased, leading to greater casualties. Yet, they successfully managed to thicken the encroaching mutated life forms around them.
Layer upon layer, these mutated life forms, occupying a small section of the city, encircled the Cloud Summit outpost in a semicircle, compressing hundreds of thousands of humans into a very confined space.
Under normal circumstances, the next moment would lead to a slaughter and days of feasting; however, they had turned into living targets that needed no aiming.
Perhaps taking out a single magic crystal weapon wouldn't pose much of a threat to the higher-level mutated life forms, except for the top-tier annihilation series cannons or the long-barreled magic crystal sniper rifles later referred to as the ‘Jing Ke’ series by Mu Xinfey. They could either dodge, intercept, or even withstand the attack.
But when many magic crystal weapons concentrated their fire, the cumulative power or the wave-like barrage would become unbearable for these mutated life forms.
In fact, when sufficient firepower was deployed, there was not much difference between ten thousand mutated apes and hundreds of thousands of mutated life forms.
This large-scale slaughter of mutated life forms within a short period not only shocked the humans but also instilled fear in the other mutated life forms.
The flying life forms that were besieging the temporary command center were already facing strong resistance and suffered heavy losses. Their position was considered optimal for observation; they wouldn't have been too concerned until they saw the scene, causing them to flee in terror immediately.
Meanwhile, those mutated life forms being bombarded by the Cloud Summit's air defense units in the sky had already turned tail, especially the cautious ones or those at lower evolutionary levels. The atmosphere charged with lethal energy was enough to frighten them off.
Some situations are interconnected.
The combination of the Thunderstorm Tower and Ball Blade Launchers, along with nearly ten thousand ground-based air defense forces, was already overwhelming for these airborne creatures. Although a few high-level evolved ones managed to dive down, they still had to face Xia Bai, who was akin to the Dark Demon God. In the absence of eighth-level beings, who among the fallen celestial wings could contend against her?!
After Xia Bai effortlessly took down a level-seven two-headed mountain sparrow, the airborne life forms of Xingzhou City began to disintegrate.
This was not a collapse; it was chaos.
Despite the remaining flying life forms being numerous, some began to flee, while others harbored ill intentions, rushing to the areas with sparser fire from the Cloud Summit to feast on the corpses of their fallen kin. To some extent, humans were naturally more delicious, but if they could devour other mutated life forms, especially those of a higher level, that would be even better.
Of course, there were still some fiery characters who kept charging at the human defenses, attempting to break through the ground forces.
However, the number of such flying life forms had dwindled. As long as the air defense units maintained two-thirds of their firepower, they could hold their ground entirely, while the remaining third could join the assault against the zombie horde and beast horde on the ground.
The scales of victory were rapidly tilting towards Cloud Summit.
