Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1303: Crystal Scorpion 🦂

Meng Ao kicked open the door to his room, his chest rising and falling rapidly.

It wasn't because he had exhausted a lot of physical energy, but rather a natural reaction of the body caused by a mix of tension, fear, and other emotions.

While escaping just now, he had heard continuous screams.

Although the sounds had changed pitch due to despair and terror, even resulting in moments of tearing, he still heard them clearly.

Those were familiar voices, some of which had followed him since the early days of the Red Kwanzaa Free Army.

But now, they had all disappeared after brief cries.

Meng Ao knew that this disappearance was real—it was... death.

The entire Jicheng had descended into chaos; without these mid-tier elites, they couldn't organize any effective resistance.

The vast difference in evolution levels also caused the warriors who came to stop this from collapsing in despair, as the feeling of being instantly killed was enough to bring them hopelessness.

Meng Ao understood that the Red Kwanzaa Free Army was finished; the force he had painstakingly built had perished on its birthday.

However, he didn't feel particularly heartbroken; he was just a bit irritated.

Meng Ao knew that as long as he didn’t lose one particular item, he could rise again anytime.

He quickly went to the bathroom, moved the sink aside, revealing the wall behind it.

Pressing a spot, a square section of the wall collapsed inward, and he reached in to take out a small handbag.

He didn’t even look at it, grabbing it and running outside.

However, as soon as he exited the bathroom, Meng Ao stopped in his tracks.

"Ye Zhongming, leave a way for us to live!" Looking at the young man casually standing at the door, Meng Ao growled, "We have no grudges. Whether it's for this base, for the people here, or for the wealth, I'll give it all to you! But get out of my way; I want to leave!"

Ye Zhongming glanced at the small bag in his hand, raising his chin slightly.

"Don’t go too far!" Meng Ao clutched the handbag tightly. "Don't think I'm really afraid of you; I just don't want to fight you. If it comes to a real fight, it's uncertain who would win or lose."

Ye Zhongming shook his head. "Regardless of the situation, we are both bosses of the top thirty forces in the national district. Can we please avoid talk that sounds like it came from a low-budget special effects movie?"

"You have the advantage now, so of course, you can say whatever you want." Meng Ao realized his momentum was completely suppressed and became a bit calmer, "Whether it's childish or not, I'm just telling you a fact: I have the strength to fight until both sides are destroyed, so there should be a better solution to our problem than fighting."

"Killing you is the best solution!"

Upon hearing Ye Zhongming say this, Meng Ao gasped a few times and suddenly said, "Our territories do not overlap, and we have no conflicting interests. Yet you came to us, so... are you the agent of the Tarros Red Dwarf on Earth?"

This twist surprised Ye Zhongming slightly.

"It seems you understand perfectly why all of this is happening." Ye Zhongming shifted his body slightly, and Meng Ao clearly tensed up.

"Hand over the Angras Earrings, and you can live."

Meng Ao stared at Ye Zhongming for a few seconds, then burst out laughing.

"Do you know? Earlier when you were standing there without saying anything, I actually felt inferior to you, but once you spoke, I realized that the boss of the grand Cloud Summit Villa is just like that. The Tarros Red Dwarf didn't even tell you what the Angras Earrings are, and you actually came here to kill me. Don’t you think you're failing in your duties?"

Ye Zhongming did not get angry. On the contrary, he felt that Meng Ao should know some things he wasn’t aware of.

"Once again, hand over the Angras Earrings, and you can live."

The sneer on Meng Ao’s face grew stronger, and the confidence he had lost earlier seemed to return at that moment.

He gently opened the bag in his hand and pulled out an item.
