CHAPTER TEXT:

Before the long trail of smoke were dozens of various motorcycles, but strangely, there was no loud engine noise, only the faint sound of tires scraping against the ground.

“The Ghost Motorcycle Team is back!”

At the gate on the southern entrance of Jicheng, a guard said to his companion beside him, with an obvious tone of envy.

“Did you see? Each motorcycle has a package tied to the back. It looks like they’ve hit the jackpot again this time. They’ve been out for over half a month. In such a short time, they managed to gather so much stuff. I really envy them. They’ll have enough to squander in Chengcheng for a month.”

Another guard chimed in, his mind already filled with images of the lavish nightlife in Jicheng.

“Useless fellows, all they know is how to squander. No wonder you’re still just a two-star evolver!”

A voice suddenly interrupted from behind, followed by a slap on the second guard’s head.

The two guards turned around and immediately called out respectfully, “Boss!”

A robust figure squeezed in between them, resting his hands on the gate, narrowing his eyes as he watched the approaching convoy below.

“Boss, I heard that the leader of the Ghost Motorcycle Team obtained the Ghost Motorcycle Profession Scroll by trading with someone. You say that person must have been foolish to let go of such a valuable scroll? I heard he only traded it for a bottle of three-star Evolution Potion. Sigh, just look at the Ghost Motorcycle Team now. Their boss is already a six-star evolver, and even the weakest among them is a four-star. Every time they go hunting, they can catch a large number of mutated lives. Impressive!”

“Hmph.” The burly man, referred to as the boss, sneered coldly, “Value is reflected differently at different times. How do you know that the person who traded him the scroll is not doing better than him now? Perhaps that person has already evolved into a three-star evolver and has become a high-level expert!”

At this stage, only seven-star evolvers could be considered high-level experts.

The guards internally disagreed but didn’t dare to argue back with the boss; they could only shrug their shoulders behind his back to express their feelings.

“And remember, even though the Ghost Motorcycle Team is strong, we, the Red Kwanzaa Free Army, are the real bosses in Jicheng! You must keep that in mind!”

The boss reprimanded his subordinates. After seeing them lower their heads in silence, he waved his hand, “Go down and guard the gate for them. Make them pay their taxes according to the rules! If they’re a penny short, I’ll kick you to death!”

The two guards quickly descended the massive, heavy gate, opened the small passage on the gate, allowing the Ghost Motorcycle Team to enter, and then made them pay the entry tax set by the Red Kwanzaa Free Army.

Watching the noisy and self-satisfied convoy below, the boss crossed his arms and quietly observed.

Perhaps sensing the gaze of others, the leader of the Ghost Motorcycle Team, riding the flashiest blue motorcycle with a steering wheel, lifted his head and locked eyes with the boss.

The two exchanged glances for a few seconds, and the leader of the Ghost Motorcycle Team smirked and nodded, as a form of greeting. At that moment, the fees were paid, and the inspections were cleared; these ghost motorcycles silently drove onto the road leading to Jicheng, where they would soon return to the world of humanity.

After a while, the two guards came back to report to their boss. After listening, the boss reminded them a few more points and turned to walk away.

“The boss seems a bit off. Did you notice anything?” one guard said, watching the boss’s retreating figure.

“I heard he didn’t succeed in joining a formal combat team this time and has to continue staying in our outer circle.”

“Heh, even a four-star evolver isn’t enough? This Free Army is getting harder to join.”
