Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1278: Unmeltable Blood 🔥

Published: February 11, 2025

"Been waiting for you!"

Yangos roared as his massive wings spread wide, blocking the space-time gate, while his body twisted to slice towards the nearly invisible shadow with another wing.

Ye Zhongming's Wind and Thunder Twin Birth attacked from a different angle, working in tandem with Yangos to seal off all possible escape routes for this shadowy enemy, determined to keep it trapped here.

They both wanted to see what this thing truly was.

Speaking of individual combat strength, Ye Zhongming and Yangos were naturally top-tier at Cloud Summit Villa, and even on the entire Earth, there weren't many beings that could be compared to them.

However, unexpectedly, their coordinated strategy of luring and attacking ended in failure.

The shadow seemed to have anticipated their actions; it suddenly stopped moving, causing Yangos's razor-sharp wings to slash through the air uselessly, crashing down onto the ground of the Sanctuary with a thunderous boom, leaving a deep gash.

Then, the shadow glided sideways, narrowly avoiding Ye Zhongming's Wind and Thunder Twin Birth.

Everything unfolded so naturally, as if it had been preordained.

Ye Zhongming and Yangos were filled with astonishment.

Two top-tier eighth-level beings launched a surprise attack, and anyone would find it tricky—how could it be so easily countered?

The pride in the hearts of both the man and dragon surged. Ye Zhongming changed tactics first, activating the Earth Spirit's gravity leap, increasing the gravity in a certain area. Then, a flash appeared above Wind and Thunder Twin Birth, resembling the light and shadow attack that the Holy Father used, traversing a distance and striking towards the shadow.

Fire flickered in Yangos's eyes as he unleashed a mental shockwave aimed at the enemy.

If they couldn't keep up with the shadow, they would have to restrict and influence its speed.

The shadow indeed hadn't expected that a man and a dragon would adapt their strategy so swiftly. As it moved, the increased gravity slowed it down slightly, and when Yangos's mental shockwave hit, it caused a momentary pause.

Ye Zhongming couldn't execute a shooting-like sword shadow attack like the Holy Father did with Wind and Thunder Twin Birth, but he could still release a sword light over a short distance. If the shadow maintained its previous speed, such an attack would be ineffective; it couldn't even touch it. But now, it was different—the shadow’s ghostly speed had decreased.

Zizz!

The sword light collided with the shadow, emitting a sound akin to flesh hitting hot oil, followed by an extremely eerie cry from the shadow.

Yangos's enormous wings flapped again, and Ye Zhongming also thrust his sword forward, maintaining control of the gravity.

However, these attacks missed. The shadow had learned its lesson and, exploiting the openings between their moves, swiftly evaded and disappeared into the darkness.

On the ground, there were a few drops of purple blood, glimmering with silver specks.

Yangos, with his fiery temperament, wouldn't let this slide. He opened his mouth and spat out Crimson Dragon True Flame towards the direction where the shadow had vanished.

The intense flames reduced the monster corpses around them to ashes, the temperature skyrocketing as if they were in a furnace.

After a breath of dragon flame, Yangos panted slightly, his dragon eyes scanning for any potential spoils.

"Master, look!"

Yangos's message came through, and Ye Zhongming, ever vigilant, turned to see that those drops of blood had not evaporated or been incinerated by the dragon flame.

Good stuff!

This was the thought shared by both the man and dragon.

Although Yangos wasn't ninth-level, his Crimson Dragon True Flame was a powerful skill possessed by a pure-blooded Fire Element Dragon Race. In terms of attack strength, there was no difference.

If such dragon flame couldn't burn away these few drops of liquid, then they had to be something valuable!

However, both Ye Zhongming and Yangos soon realized another issue—the level of that shadow seemed to exceed their expectations.
