To be precise, it wasn't human.
It was merely a humanoid life form.
Each side had two legs, and its body was almost identical to that of a human, yet it had two heads, one red and one green, both covered in long and short tentacles that wiggled continuously.
On the red and green skins, there were a pair of eyes the size of copper bells, with no nose, only three holes, and a slightly protruding mouth filled with a row of black teeth.
In appearance, it was a mutated life form, but it still lacked magic crystals.
Zhan Pingkang felt that in nearly three years of the apocalypse, he had never seen anything as bizarre as this.
What exactly were these creatures?!
Why were they attacking the Cloud Summit's convoy?!
"¥%……&……¥#@()……" The humanoid life form riding on the largest and most robust monster uttered words that the people of Cloud Summit could not understand.
But they quickly grasped the meaning.
This sentence signified an attack.
The monsters, which had paused due to the appearance of this humanoid being, howled and resumed their assault.
Aside from the towering monster in the center, the rest all joined in the attack, even the ones that had previously remained still began charging toward them.
Clearly, these monsters intended to resolve the issue in one fell swoop.
"Fight to the death!"
"Kill them!"
"Eliminate them all!"
"I’ve fought against the ninth level Holy Father, so I’m not afraid of these little trash!"
The warriors of Cloud Summit, sensing the impending doom, erupted in rage. Since it was likely they wouldn't escape today, they would fight desperately, killing one was better than none.
Ordinary warriors could act this way, but Zhan Pingkang could not; he understood the importance of the convoy to Cloud Summit.
The convoy was a source and transit hub for many pieces of information and a landmark for numerous trade routes. Some relatively closed-off small factions recognized Lu Yi and the convoy, but might not necessarily recognize Cloud Summit. In this era where people's hearts had gone cold, many evolvers only recognized faces, not names.
If the convoy was annihilated here, a new convoy would need to establish trade routes all over again, rendering all previous efforts futile. This was Cloud Summit, the hard work of Lu Yi and the people of the convoy for nearly two years.
In these two years, how many had become white bones?!
"Follow my orders!" Zhan Pingkang shouted with all his might, ensuring that everyone could hear him.
"Da Qi, Anzi, Xiao Liang, Lao Ka, you take your people and protect Uncle Lu as he breaks out. You must get out, you must! Our convoy cannot perish here; the others will provide cover!"
His voice had become hoarse, but it was heard by everyone.
The few people he had named were the only remaining six-star evolvers in the convoy. If they all went to escort Lu Yi's escape, then Zhan Pingkang and these brothers…
"Don’t just stand there! I’m trying to be noble here, do you want me to go back on my word?!" Seeing his subordinates hesitating, Zhan Pingkang became furious, shouting.
"Our convoy is our lifeblood. In this damned world, we have nothing left to cling to. Are we really going to give up our last hope? Hurry up! Stop dallying like women!"
Hearing Zhan Pingkang's almost blood-curdling shout, many men had red-rimmed eyes. The few named people roared with anger, Da Qi carried Lu Yi on his back, and the others surrounded him as they began to break through in the opposite direction of the monster.
The others fought hard to block the enemies coming from all sides.
At this moment, there was no room for selfishness; only the most basic instinct for human survival remained. Would everyone obey the order to protect their comrades? Of course not. Some would prioritize their own lives, but everyone understood that at such a time, breaking away from the group would mean certain death. It was better to act with the group; perhaps luck would favor them.
In a desperate situation, the warriors of Cloud Summit unleashed tremendous combat power. They braved the monster's assaults and rushed to the position of the heavy trucks, with no time to unfasten the chains connecting them. Many rushed into the driver's cabin and the cargo area, and the roar of the engines thundered to life.
