Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1248: Trapped Merchant Group (Part 1) 🏕️

Published: February 11, 2025

Just as Red Hair, Little Tiger, and Young Master Yun were preparing to set off, their target was attacked for what felt like the umpteenth time in recent days.

"What the hell is this?!"

Qin Hao covered his injured ribs, running while shouting to his comrades around him.

He had been at Cloud Summit for over two years and had never felt this humiliated.

"Who knows? Just run! They're coming after us again!"

Another comrade, Ashi, pulled him along, turning back to fire two shots with his magic crystal weapon. The once terrifying tearing energy fell upon the enemies behind them, but it couldn't even break their skin.

"Damn it, damn it, damn it!"

Ashi cursed fiercely, slinging his Magic Crystal Long Spear over his back and producing two silver box type II grenades from his hands.

These were his own secret stash, traded from someone in the Copper Kettle Team, for which he had used quite a few good items. He had been reluctant to use them until now, but with the magic crystal firearms proving insufficient, he had no choice but to see if this could stop the monsters behind them.

The oval grenades bounced a few times on the ground before exploding, sending a more powerful energy towards the monsters that had entered the blast radius.

Compared to the damage of the magic crystal firearms, the power of the silver box type II grenades was much greater.

With the sound of the explosion, these monsters were sent tumbling in all directions, many letting out strange cries.

"Wow, Ashi, this is good! When we get back, I want to trade for ten of these with the main battle team!"

Qin Hao sprinted while grinning, unable to suppress his envy for his comrade’s grenades.

"Let’s just hope we make it back alive!"

Ashi merely glanced over and quickened his pace. "These things are limited edition; there aren't many with the main battle team either."

Both of them were six-star evolvers, and even though they were injured, their speed remained fast.

Utilizing the brief moment of respite, they quickly ran hundreds of meters away.

However, just as they were feeling relieved, a familiar sound reached their ears. They exchanged glances, seeing the despair in each other's eyes.

"Those damn things!"

They cursed almost in unison, but it was nothing more than empty words.

"It seems the mission can't be completed. How about… we fight back!"

Although the monsters had just been blasted, they evidently hadn’t suffered any fatal injuries. They got back up and chased after the two again, their speed surpassing that of Qin Hao and Ashi.

Upon hearing what Ashi said, Qin Hao realized that unless a miracle happened, they were both likely to die here. The thought of the monsters' strange behavior and the merchant group being left without rescue after their mission failure filled him with rage and unwillingness.

Ever since they encountered these monsters a few days ago, the team's nightmare had begun. No one had ever seen these creatures or knew where they came from; they bore no magic crystals, making it impossible to determine their levels.

For the two who had never come into contact with the secrets of the apocalypse, monsters without magic crystals were unimaginable.

These monsters were incredibly powerful and emitted an invisible interference, rendering the merchant group's signal emitters useless. They relentlessly attacked the team, relying on their exceptional speed and teamwork to erode the merchant group's fighting strength.

Unable to contend with the thousands of these monsters and unable to outrun them, Lu Yi had no choice but to order everyone to hold their ground. The monsters immediately completed their encirclement of the merchant group.

Fortunately, while the overall strength of the monsters was formidable, it seemed that they lacked particularly powerful individuals. Under the combined efforts of Lu Yi and many six-star evolvers, they had not yet breached the vehicle formation.

However, everything changed this morning. Lu Yi was severely injured in battle and fell into a coma. Without the strongest warrior and commander, the Cloud Summit Merchant Group fell into extreme passivity, watching helplessly as the monsters threatened to break through their formation.
