Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1202: Blood Rain Veil 🌧️🩸

Published: February 11, 2025

The Previous Generation Guardian of the Sacred Pool stared intently at the face of the three-legged monster.

"You’re not as resolute as you claim. Otherwise, you would have ended it all by now," the Previous Generation Guardian slowly extended a hand and gripped the three-legged monster's neck.

"Look at you, once a ninth-level expert, now allowing an eighth-level person like me to touch you at will. This must be humiliating for you, right? Or perhaps you’re hoping to entice an outsider to help you in some way, and that would be humiliation? Or maybe you've already lost all dignity?"

The gazes of the two beings crossed in the air, sparks flying.

"You would rather be bound here, waiting for a true ninth-level being to come and kill you, than help us? You don’t really think that when that Holy Father wins this war, he would just kill you, do you? He will definitely drain all the energy from you because energy of the same level can be fully converted for his use. How many days of falling sand will his lifespan increase because of that? A thousand? Ten thousand? Or even more? And you? You would become a dried corpse, devoid of all energy and moisture, as this space disintegrates?"

Listening to the Previous Generation Guardian's words, the three-legged monster's expression changed repeatedly.

He could speak of truths and lies without flinching in front of Ye Zhongming, promising what he could or could not deliver, but in front of this Previous Generation Guardian, his confidence was no longer solid.

He was a ninth-level expert, yet he was a ninth-level expert trapped here. Since being defeated by possibly the strongest Guardian in the history of the posthumous children, and being used as an energy source, the dignity the Guardian spoke of had already left him.

What he hoped for, or rather yearned for, was simply freedom.

Before this, he knew there was no hope of that in his lifetime. The posthumous children would definitely not let go of this killing machine; this was a last resort for their race on the brink of extinction. No one would be kind enough to spare him out of pity.

If it weren't for Ye Zhongming wandering through the Blue Secret Realm for special reasons and discovering him, perhaps until now, only the successive Guardians of the Sacred Pool would know about this secret, and the king zun would remain ignorant of his existence.

Since they did not know, there was even less talk of sparing him.

Originally, Ye Zhongming's arrival gave the three-legged monster hope. He felt that with a little time, this person from Earth would definitely follow his hints and gradually unravel the things binding him, allowing him to regain his freedom.

However, unexpectedly, the war came too quickly. The posthumous children faced threats from ninth-level experts and had no choice but to use divine punishment.

When the Sacred Pool could no longer provide sufficient energy due to the instability of the space, he became a supplementary energy source.

He knew that this ‘resurrected’ Previous Generation Guardian had even deceived him, all for the moment to defend the Posthumous Child King City. The words spoken would not be false; if the same-level Holy Father discovered him, the chances of being absorbed far exceeded the chances of being released.

At the very least, if he were to put himself in the Holy Father's position, he would absolutely not spare an existence of the same level.

So, helping the posthumous children?

The three-legged monster knew this also carried a great risk.

He had been trapped here for too many years. The Holy Father’s energy was waning, and so was his own. However, compared to the people here, his race allowed him to live longer, and his energy depletion rate was simply slower.

He didn’t know how many times his own energy could sustain the posthumous children's absorption. Once his energy was drained clean, it would mean death.

But what if it wasn’t drained?

A fierce struggle took place in the heart of the three-legged monster; he knew that after being trapped for countless years, the best opportunity for escape was right in front of him.
