Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 1163: High-Level Bloodline 🩸

Published: February 11, 2025

The people from the wasteland moved, and twenty individuals separated from the rest, slowly walking into the area controlled by Wen Huan, where the mutated creatures were located.

This sudden movement naturally caught the attention of Ye Zhongming and everyone from the Nalan battle team, who looked on in curiosity, unsure of what the people from the wasteland were up to.

Ye Zhongming merely took a glance while he was busy crafting equipment and then lost interest. However, Gao Yi, Zhao Xiangxue, and Li Qiang were all nervously watching the scene unfold.

Apart from those twenty individuals, everyone else from the wasteland retreated to the back, maintaining a considerable distance from one another.

Before long, the previously motionless mutated plants suddenly became agitated. Centered around Wen Huan, chaos erupted as they swarmed, instantly engulfing the twenty people who had stepped forward.

Then, screams began to emanate from among the mutated plants, accompanied by the disturbing sounds of something piercing through flesh and bone.

Excluding Ye Zhongming, the members of the Nalan battle team and Gao Yi exchanged bewildered glances, unsure of what was happening in the wasteland.

Could it be that the boss named Wen Huan was losing control of his energy and had begun to consume his own subordinates? If that were the case, he would be a truly despicable individual; wouldn't the others realize and turn against him? Furthermore, those people seemed to have voluntarily walked over; could they be so noble as to sacrifice themselves for their boss and battle team?

Or was it that these mutated plants were hungry and needed flesh? Were they using these evolvers as food?

Regardless of the reason, it was an extremely cruel situation. How could the wasteland and Wen Huan act so callously?

Even in the apocalypse, human life was still precious, and it shouldn’t be sacrificed in this manner.

Ye Zhongming remained focused on crafting equipment, only a hint of a cold smile gracing his lips.

He had already begun to surmise Wen Huan's intentions. Was this some sort of retaliation against his trip to purchase potions? Did he think to intimidate him with such a display? To make him back down?

Ye Zhongming mocked internally, not at himself, but at Wen Huan.

That individual, attempting to strike fear into him in this way, probably didn’t realize that the moment Ye Zhongming recognized his Plant Master profession, he had already understood it thoroughly. He not only knew what was about to be revealed but also aspects of the profession's future form that even Wen Huan himself might not be aware of.

Amidst this bizarre situation, the mutated plants surrounding Wen Huan began to change, with some of them rapidly vanishing.

They didn’t disappear into thin air or turn to ash; it was as if something had swallowed them or drawn them away, disappearing inwardly.

After a while of this continuous disappearance, what had once been an almost innumerable mass of mutated plants dwindled to just a third of its original size.

In the midst of the mutated plants, twenty horrifying figures emerged precisely where those twenty evolvers had been.

These figures had completely transformed; they were now… plant people!

Not in the medical sense, but monsters that had been taken over and fused with mutated plants.

They no longer bore any resemblance to their original forms, having become frankensteinian combat machines fused with various types of mutated plants!

If they had merely turned into treemen, flower people, or thorned creatures, the evolvers accustomed to apocalypse monsters wouldn’t describe them as terrifying.

But these twenty beings were genuinely grotesque, genuinely horrifying.

They were like stitched-together beings, a horrible amalgamation of flesh and plant. Perhaps a branch protruded from their forehead, or a broken liver dangled from a wooden tentacle, or their abdomen bloomed with countless flowers filled with teeth…

What the hell are those things?!

Each person’s first thought upon seeing these creatures would be something along those lines. Even the two leaders of avoidance, accustomed to the cold, bloody, and deformed existence of their subordinates, had to resist the impulse to jump up.
