Chapter
"There is one more chapter, but it will be later."
In his previous life, Ye Zhongming had heard many rumors, but he could never confirm their truth.
For example, it was said that each desolate land was formed after a nuclear weapon explosion.
In this life, Ye Zhongming stood at a higher level and learned some information that he had no idea about in his past life. For instance, the existence of the slave race, the situation in secret realms, and that some people had known about the arrival of the apocalypse in advance.
Yet, many questions remained unanswered.
For instance, if desolate lands were created from nuclear weapons on Earth due to some reasons devised by those high beings, then where did the materials, vegetation, and monsters inside come from?
Were the iron lock prisoners and Yangos created beings? If not, where did they come from?
Now, Ye Zhongming had an opportunity to hear the answers directly.
Looking at Yangos’ obviously dazed eyes, Ye Zhongming suddenly felt a hint of fear in his heart.
If they were created, could a race capable of creating such perfect life forms be something he could challenge?
If humanity still had any dreams amidst the apocalypse, besides ending it, it was to find answers.
In the past, Ye Zhongming didn’t have the ability to ponder these things, but now he felt he did, so he began to seek out the truth.
Yet, he was truly afraid of hearing news he dreaded.
Perhaps everyone fears despair.
"I come from..."
Yangos appeared to be lost in thought, as if reminiscing.
"You don't deserve to have me answer your questions!"
As expected, the Evil Dragon had a bad temper and suddenly started roaring at Ye Zhongming again.
Ye Zhongming said nothing, took out a spare silver-grade gauntlet, put it on, and then walked towards Yangos.
Five minutes later, Ye Zhongming threw the damaged gauntlet to the Treasure Storage Gourd to 'eat', then kicked Yangos’ already battered head as it lay on the ground, "Now, do I deserve to know?"
"You don’t..." Yangos struggled to lift its head, about to spit more words at Ye Zhongming, but when it saw Ye Zhongming's narrowed eyes, it swallowed back what it was about to say.
"You need to prove your worth if you want to survive," Ye Zhongming sat back on the stone stump, looking at the tragic giant dragon, "I'm busy and will have to leave soon. Many things are waiting for me to handle. If you want to speak, you better be quick. If you don’t want to say anything, just tell me and I’ll send you to hell."
"Hell, do you understand?"
Yangos didn’t understand, but it could guess it meant death.
"I... can't remember."
Ye Zhongming responded with an 'mm', and Yangos hurriedly continued, "I can remember I have many kin, and sometimes I think about what dragon race I belong to, but I've forgotten everything else."
After a pause, Yangos added, "I’ve forgotten where my hometown is, forgotten where I came from, forgotten the way back, and even forgotten how I got to... your world."
Ye Zhongming stared at Yangos, discerning the truth of its words.
"Forgotten?"
"Yes, forgotten. I thought for a long time, but I can’t remember. I even asked some high-level beings I encountered, but they didn’t even have the qualification to forget, unlike me."
The man and dragon fell silent. At this moment, there would be no eloquent words to persuade this dragon to pledge loyalty; one reason was that its contract with the Holy Maiden was still in effect, and the other was that the current Yangos was so honest, likely due to its imprisonment, with its life in Ye Zhongming's hands. Ye Zhongming had heard of this Evil Dragon's character in his previous life.
Facing Yangos' answer, Ye Zhongming felt somewhat disappointed, but at least he learned that beings like Yangos had been moved here from another place, rather than being created out of thin air.
This erased his previous worries; at least those people were not truly omnipotent like gods.
"Ye, let me go. Not just let me go from here, but let me return to Earth. We can become friends, and I am willing to help you whenever you need it. We can also reach many cooperations. I think this will benefit us both."
