Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 102: Spirit Piercer ✨

Published: February 5, 2025

“Second Uncle, did you hear the commotion outside?” A young man moved two steps toward the window, straining to listen carefully.

Before Second Uncle could respond, the sounds of battle erupted, followed by the roars of mutated animals and piercing screams.

“What suddenly caused such a fierce fight? Did you guys discover something earlier?” A middle-aged woman, her complexion pale and momentarily forgetting the half-eaten sausage, whispered anxiously in the dark room.

In the small supermarket's back room, seven or eight people were gathered here. They had just lit candles to share food, but now the candles had been extinguished. Three women huddled at the farthest corner from the window, clearly nervous, while the remaining four men held their weapons, vigilantly watching the window as if enemies might burst in at any moment.

“Aunt, pack up the magic crystals and be ready to leave at any time.”

“Leave? Second Uncle, are we abandoning this place?” The young man who spoke first was somewhat reluctant to leave, as this place provided food and drink, alleviating their worries about sustenance. It was uncertain if they could find such a good refuge again if they left.

Second Uncle appeared to be in his forties or fifties, robust, with skin that bore the healthily tanned marks of years spent outdoors. It was clear from his demeanor that he was the only evolver among this group of survivors.

“They're strong,” Second Uncle said calmly. “If they rush in, I can't guarantee our safety.”

Upon hearing this, the others' expressions darkened. Their hold on this place was largely due to their unity and Second Uncle's formidable strength, along with his homemade earth crossbow, which had decent power.

If even he said there were dangerous foes outside, then they truly needed to retreat.

Moments later, the nearby commotion suddenly ceased, leaving only the increasingly loud sounds of zombies approaching.

After a while, the people in the room heard a series of thuds, as if something was collapsing one after another, followed by light knocks on the window.

“Is anyone there?”

………………………………………………………………………………………………

The Golden Cloth was attacked continuously, its energy depleting, and at this moment, coming into contact with a living being, it frantically absorbed energy to replenish itself.

The bone demon felt its power rapidly diminishing. It didn’t understand the reason for this situation, especially since it had lost most of its arms, and could no longer suppress the fear it thought it didn’t have, letting out an uncontrollable wail.

Against other two-star mutated zombies, even if Ye Zhongming knew their innate skills, he couldn’t so easily triumph over them. But the bone demon belonged to the category of mental evolution; its strength lay in its formidable mental power and its unpredictable mental skills. Its physical attributes were not much higher than those of a one-star evolver.

Encountering Ye Zhongming, who was already stronger than a typical one-star evolver and fully aware of its innate abilities, the bone demon's defeat was inevitable.

From its initial mutation to becoming a two-star evolved entity, this bone demon had been invincible, no one could withstand its scorching rays, which was the reason it could evolve so rapidly.

But today, it felt as if everything was over before it even began, not even knowing how it was to fail.

Yet, one thing the bone demon understood was that defeat often meant death.

Even if it evolved from a zombie, death was still the most terrifying thing.

It wanted to untie the Golden Cloth wrapped around its protective ring of bones, but its hands were already severed; no matter how it moved, it was powerless.

The bone demon already felt its body weakening rapidly, but it was unable to stop it...

…………………………………………………………………………

Transitioning from defense to offense, Ye Zhongming took only a second. The bone demon was already unable to pose any real threat; all his attention was now on the spirit woman.
