CHAPTER TEXT:

“Still a Two-in-One~~”

Bachelet instinctively shuddered, his expression a bit unnatural.

The captain of the palace guards squinted his eyes and rudely squeezed past Bachelet, entering the room.

Although both he and Bachelet were six-star evolvers, the attitude he displayed was far from that of an equal; it was quite domineering, even disrespectful.

After casually looking around the room, the captain returned to Bachelet's side and said coldly, “I heard you talked for a long time with those people from China today. What did you discuss?”

Bachelet felt a chill run down his spine under the captain's scrutinizing gaze, suddenly realizing that his secret was exposed, and instinctively lowered his head.

The captain looked at the performance of this six-star evolver with increasing disdain.

What right did this person have to be on the same level as him? To be considered an elite in the Holy City and even the entire West Asia? Just because he had a writer profession that could be killed in seconds without protection?

His Evolution Potions, profession scrolls, and skill scrolls were all earned with blood and life, but what about this person? He just made a few scrolls?

Why?!

The palace guard captain always thought that this South American didn't deserve to hold the status he had now.

Of course, since your majesty protected him, he couldn't just kill this person, but he could... bully him.

“I-I didn’t say anything,” Bachelet stammered, trembling beneath his robe, his heart in turmoil, fearing that his deal with the Chinese man was already known.

If that were the case, what would his fate be?

Bachelet began to feel extreme fear, which soon turned into hatred: hatred for the captain of the royal guards, hatred for Ye Zhongming, and hatred for himself for coming to this place for vacation during the apocalypse!

“Didn’t say anything? Do you think I would believe you?” The captain leaned closer to Bachelet, almost pressing his face against him, “Your majesty is still waiting for my response. What do you think I should tell him? By the way, his Red Lion hasn't had much of an appetite lately; it doesn’t even want to eat mutated creatures below level five. Do you think your flesh would be to its liking?”

A red figure like a small mountain appeared in Bachelet's mind, along with those blood-red eyes and sharp teeth, causing him to tremble even more.

“I-I-I just... just talked about a scroll deal with him.”

Perhaps out of fear, Bachelet’s words were broken and uneven. When he said “talked,” the word ‘pen’ came out so lightly that the captain thought it was a tremor.

“When you talk to someone, of course, it's about scrolls. Do you think it could be a hunting mission? Then you should bring a few more pairs of pants; you’ll need them when you wet yourself.”

Hearing such blatant insults from the captain, the soldiers outside laughed heartily, showing no respect for this six-star evolver at all.

Bachelet opened his mouth, wanting to confess everything, but unexpectedly, he was grabbed by the neck by the captain, who said fiercely, “I can give you some good words, but my words come at a price, dear Mr. Bachelet, you should understand that, right?”

The South American, completely frightened and controlled, suddenly stopped his instinctive struggles and stared at the captain in shock.

“Don’t understand? Then let me tell you how to understand.”

The captain raised his fist.

Bachelet quickly nodded.

“Smart of you.”

The captain released Bachelet but continued to glare coldly at him.

Bachelet lowered his head, trying not to let the captain see his face, and with trembling hands, he drew a scroll out of thin air.

The scroll shimmered with a faint red halo.

“Thanks, esteemed Mr. Bachelet.”

The captain patted the South American's face, greedily glanced at the item in his hand, then took the scroll and walked out with a smile. Soon, he disappeared from the area with his men.

However, upon returning to his residence, the captain felt a strange sensation in his heart.
