Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Chapter 655: Demon World Invasion (2) 🌌

Published: September 10, 2025

This is Satou. During the final death march phase of game development, it's common for the fixes applied to address one problem to trigger other issues in the program or code.

But still, not fixing the problems isn't an option—that's the sad reality for programmers.

“Ahhh! What’s going on!?”

“This is a serious crisis!”

Problems have erupted everywhere, and even Tama and Pochi are running around in a frenzy.

“Calm down, both of you.”

As expected, Liza remains composed.

“First—”

Liza turns her gaze toward the male gods struggling against the black sludge clinging to them.

“Let's start by dealing with the source.”

—Wait, that’s not quite right.

They might be the root cause this time, but even so, these gods are necessary beings in this world, primarily as a sort of buffer.

“Liza, calm down.”

“I’m very sorry, Master.”

Well, I can understand why they’re panicking.

The trouble began when the male gods, thinking God Parion had been kidnapped by a demon god, led the apostles and invaded the Demon World.

In that Demon World, the male gods were infected by the black sludge—an embodiment of the “forbidden power” producing high concentrations of miasma—and hastily evacuated to the human tribe’s realm.

That part was fine, but the problem was that when escaping to the human realm, they tore apart the barrier I had built at the boundary between the Demon World and the human world.

It was especially bad because a large number of apostles followed the male gods, making the damage worse.

As a result, the Demon World began to merge with the human tribe’s realm again.

First, we need to deal with the male gods and apostles infected by the black sludge, and repair the cracks in the world.

Reconstructing the barrier between the worlds will come after that.

Alright, let’s cooperate with the others and handle this emergency mission.

“—That sounds good in theory, but...”

I still look up wearily at the male gods smashing through the city, shouting about “defilement,” and the countless apostles flying back and forth in the sky.

The people of the Pialork Kingdom have been evacuated to another world, so there’s no human casualties, but the buildings on the surface have mostly been destroyed.

At this rate, just like Liza said, we might be better off wiping the slate clean...

‘—Wait. Impatience is a loss. Satou should wait. Karion also says so.’

‘No, that’s nonsense from Urion. But it is true that I want a little time before taking action.’

Two noisy young goddesses appeared before me.

Isn’t it costly for gods to appear in the human realm?

‘This is an avatar. Their true bodies are in the divine realm.’

‘As Karion says, a compressed divine oracle is sent into the nearest shrine maiden’s body for automatic regeneration.’

I see, now that you mention it, they don’t have much of a divine aura, and their golden hair outlines match each god’s personal color.

Teleporting a shrine maiden from the closest location must also be high cost, but gods probably do that with ease. After all, God Parion teleported the hero’s Imperial Throne Ship—Dimensional Submersible Vessel Jules Verne—to the hero’s location.

It feels a bit interactive for something called automatic regeneration, but I’ll just accept that it’s divine technology.

“So, what do you want from me?”

‘We have two things to tell you.’

‘First, we’ll give you the “Book of Wisdom” Karisefer.’

I obey and take out the artifact given to me from God Karion from storage.

The Book of Wisdom flips its pages by itself, and a complex layered magic circle appears above the book.

‘Wait a moment.’

God Karion says as the avatar’s finger hovers over the magic circle.

Like playing cat’s cradle, the finger moves, rearranging the lines of the magic circle, transforming it into a new spell.

‘This should be good. This magic will allow you to withstand the “forbidden power” for a short time.’

—Oh, that’s genuinely welcome.

I thank God Karion and decipher the altered magic in the Book of Wisdom.
