Note From Developer: I’m a big fan of Chinese web novels, but I often came across great stories with poor translations. That’s why I started this website! My goal is to make this the best web novel translation site out there. If you have any suggestions or feedback, feel free to reach out on Discord or Instagram.

This is Satou. What is right for me isn’t necessarily right for everyone. I feel that self-righteousness tends to run rampant quite easily.

“So, you’re claiming that those on this list fabricated a fictional criminal organization called the criminal organization duzi and committed evil deeds?”
The Director of the Central Judicial Bureau sighed as he looked over the list.
The day after finishing preparations, I stormed into the Central Judicial Bureau backed by the power of the head priest and shrine maidens of the Urion Temple.
Incidentally, the Director’s name was not on this list.
“About half of these people have physical evidence—”
“What kind of evidence?”
“That will be presented during the trial before the gods.”
When I told the Director this, the entourage whose names were on the list began hurling insults and profanities.
Well, I was ignoring them, so I didn’t really catch what they said.
“Isn’t it fine, Director? We can prove our innocence before the gods and the other council members.”
The one who spoke up was the handsome Deputy Director whose name was at the very top of the list.
Surprised by this unexpected speaker, the Director looked at him with suspicion.
“Our innocence will be guaranteed by the ‘golden scale.’”
With confidence in his voice, the Deputy Director’s words prompted the entourage to speak up all at once.
“Y-Yeah! All the council members participating in the trial before the gods are our comrades—gentlemen and ladies with judicial qualifications!”
“They will surely believe in our innocence!”
“Indeed! The scale always lies with us!”
They probably know the rules of the golden scale very well.
“Sir Pendragon, I agree to conduct the trial before the gods. However, if you lose this trial, you will have to atone for insulting those who bear the core of the nation. Do you understand that?”
“Yes, of course. Whether it’s a fine matching the state’s budget, the Demonic Sword demon king slayer that defeated the Demon King, or any desired item, I will offer it as compensation.”
Uh-oh, my deception skill is running a little wild here.
Since the Demonic Sword demon king slayer doesn’t actually exist, I’ll have to make it up later.
“Very well—”
After staring at my face for a moment, the Director nodded.
Up to this point, everything was proceeding according to the plan we discussed last night.
“—Deputy Director Boopa, and you all agree to this as well?”
“Yes, all under the fair and impartial law.”
The Deputy Director answered sarcastically in response to the Director’s confirmation.

‘Arisa, I’ve gotten the trial approved. Is the guest on your side ready?’
‘Of course, Ron! I’m having them prepare as soon as possible.’
I spoke with Arisa through the spatial magic “telephone.”
Although it was an unannounced visit, Arisa’s charm seemed to have cleared the way.
‘It’s bad to be too early, so coordinate the timing, okay?’
‘Okay, want to synchronize our watches and say “no discrepancy”?’
Arisa threw out some kind of joke, but I couldn’t recall it, so I just replied, “Sounds good,” and switched the call to the next person.
‘Mr. Satou, the setup here was helped by Princess Sistina’s golems, so it looks like we’ll make it in time.’
‘Thank you very much, Sera.’
It seemed the equipment to project video in the square was already set up.
Until the time comes, they planned to display classic films and world’s scenic views in sequence.
By the time the trial is broadcast, I’m sure many people will have gathered.
‘Mr. Satou, sorry. The setup is still ongoing.’
When I checked the progress with Ms. Zena, I got that answer.
‘Is there any problem?’
‘Yes, a beastman I met on the first day was being chased by thugs, so I was helping them...’
That sounds like Ms. Zena, who can’t overlook the weak being oppressed.
It wasn’t the store owner who lost the trial on the first day chasing them but some human men working in the same store.
