Satou here. I hate war. I'm not saying that tossing away weapons and troops will bring peace, but I do think fewer deaths are better. It would be great if wars could be settled without any loss of life, like in a game.
◇
“Honorable Prefect! The third watchtower has been breached! Knight Gawen and Knight Juran appear to have been taken prisoner.”
“If those two are defeated, even ordinary knights might stand no chance...”
“Fools! This isn’t a knight’s tournament; it’s war! Overwhelm them with numbers! Distract them with arrows!”
The robust Prefect scolds his hesitant strategists.
He is the Prefect of Sedam, the second city in Count Cuhanow’s Domain near the silver mine under attack by kobolds.
I came seeking permission to intervene in the anti-kobold battle, but it’s difficult to get his attention.
It seems better to leave and come back later.
I slip away from the Prefect’s observation tower and grab a soldier to guide me, requesting an audience with the Prefect.
Since stepping outside and returning would be a hassle, I skip some steps and try to meet him directly.
“An audience at such a busy time?!”
The Prefect’s shout echoes downstairs.
“What?! A vassal of Count Muno! If you come here with airs in this situation, I’ll have your head chopped off.”
Soldier A standing beside me awkwardly looks away.
He’s probably speaking loud enough for me to hear as a warning.
After a while, Soldier B comes down and escorts Tama and me to the Prefect.
Of course, I handed over my weapons to the soldiers before the meeting.
“So, you’re a vassal of Count Muno? A catperson as a page? Poor taste.”
The blatant racism after a while ticks me off, but I recall how harsh discrimination against demi-humans is north of Muno Territory.
“Nice to meet you, Honorable Prefect. I’m here regarding the kobolds troubling Your Excellency—”
“Hmph, do you think you can wipe them out with a single sweep?”
“If you grant permission, I’ll do so immediately.”
I flash a confident smile at the Prefect, who looks ready to say it’s impossible.
For some reason, Tama—still dressed as a page—mimics my expression at my feet.
“I’ll give you half an hour. If you manage it by then, I’ll thank you.”
“That’s much appreciated.”
Normally, just deploying troops takes several hours.
Even if I went in with an elite few, considering the current chaotic battle between Count Cuhanow’s forces and the kobolds, the Prefect likely thinks half an hour—about one hour—is too short to finish the suppression.
“Tama, I’m counting on you.”
“No worries~ Ninja mode activated, nin-nin~”
Tama slips away like a ninja.
Using “Remote Talk” magic, I give orders to eliminate the kobolds.
“W-what is that?!”
“P-people—no, dog-headed brutes—are flying through the air!”
The Prefect and two strategists stare, unable to comprehend the absurd battlefield scene.
At the front lines, beast girls grab kobold warriors and hurl them high into the sky.
No matter how strong their muscles, that trajectory is unnatural.
The secret is the improvised acceleration circle I gave them.
Originally, Tama and Pochi developed it during shooting experiments in the desert, but I’ll keep that secret to preserve the pride of the kobold warriors.
The kobolds flung into the sky fall into spiderweb traps set by pseudo-spirits Arakne and others waiting about 100 meters behind with Mia.
Just in case, Nana was assigned to guard the airship and Mia.
Through the spatial magic “tactical communication” linked with my companions, I hear the terrified screams and shouts of the kobolds being trampled by beast girls.
With much of the half-hour time limit remaining, the suppression is complete.
‘Master, suppression complete.’
‘Well done. Move to the next stage.’
‘Understood! Pochi, Tama, let’s go.’
‘Right-o~’
‘Yes sir!’
I use “Remote Talk” to instruct the beast girls to recover the kobolds who were incapacitated before our intervention.
It seems a few kobolds captured by Count Cuhanow’s army are in the torture chambers.
