Carrying a cage filled with mice that Tama and Pochi collected in the Royal Capital, I used unit teleportation to move into the quarantine laboratory.

Since this place is completely isolated from the outside world, entry is only possible through teleportation.

I slipped on a lab coat and used the magic hand to take a mouse out of the cage.

The mouse squeaked “chu-chu” while looking around the room curiously.

“Chu?”

“Sorry, but you’re going to help with an experiment.”

I pried open the mouth of the unsuspecting mouse and used a dropper to feed it the high-grade magic potion mixed with my blood — the Divine Nectar.

The mouse let out a distressed, garbled squeal and collapsed unconscious.

It seemed the potion was a bit too strong for its small body, as the mouse’s stamina and vitality were nearly depleted.

I moistened its mouth with sugar water and placed it into a different cage than the one it came from.

For some reason, the mouse’s sleeping face looked peaceful, though that was probably just my imagination.

I diluted the Divine Nectar ten times with water and fed it to the next mouse.

None refused, but several collapsed and lay limp.

After testing about ten mice, I ended the experiment and placed them in a third cage.

While preparing for the next experiment, I noticed the mice in the cage looking up at me.

I could swear I sensed intelligence in their gaze.

Next to the first mouse I tested, an AR display showed its species name had changed to “Sage Rat.”

Of the ten mice in the second experiment, three had become “Sage Rat (Lower Grade),” while the remaining seven were still just mice.

I fed my blood to mice that hadn’t participated in any experiments.

They licked my blood with their tiny tongues, but showed no physical changes.

Next, I added drops of my blood to the newly created high-grade magic potions, crafting various fake Divine Nectar mixtures and fed them to the remaining mice.

Just like the ones that drank my blood directly, they showed no change.

It seems the problem lay with the blood that flowed from the arm tainted with the Divine Aura of the Divine Sword.

I felt relieved, knowing I didn’t have to worry about high humans being born from nightlife escapades.

Now I could comfortably visit the entertainment districts on my travels.

The next experiment involved the Evil Thought Crystal.

I planned to test what would happen if a living creature approached a crystal formed from miasma.

Of course, this was done in a different laboratory separate from the one used for the mice experiments.

For this test, I used small flies.

As a fly approached the Evil Thought Crystal, it rapidly grew and transformed into a monster.

It immediately attacked me, so I sliced it in half with the demon blade I conjured as an extension of my fingertip.

A pale demon core rolled out from the cross-section.

There’s no doubt that the miasma plays a key role in transforming living beings into monsters.

I stored the Evil Thought Crystal in my storage and ended the dangerous experiment.

Doomgrass and Self-Destruction Stem used in demonic enhancement potions must be plants that gather miasma.

In other words, if Doomgrass and Self-Destruction Stem are cultivated in various places, the rate of monster occurrences might decrease.

I would like to entrust this research to someone, but since these plants are poisonous on their own, it’s dangerous to have ordinary farmers grow them.

Also, if someone aware of their use as potion ingredients were to misuse them, that would be problematic.

It seems necessary to discover or create through breeding new species that inherit the traits of these plants but cannot be abused.

This will be difficult without finding trustworthy researchers.

Princess Sistina might eagerly take on the research, but I can’t have a princess of a nation breeding dangerous poisonous plants.

Maybe requesting an elf botanist would be the best approach.
