The boy pulled back the precious pearl raised toward the sky.
“I see... I was the one who wished to erase my own memories.”
The moment he looked at the precious pearl reflecting the sunlight, the sealed memories replayed in his mind like a revolving lantern.
— Memories of living in the original world.
— Memories of being summoned during a ritual in a small country.
— The extraordinary beauty of a purple-haired girl, looking almost not human.
— And the one who rescued him from an abduction called summoning.
“I remember now...”
He squeezed his hand holding the precious pearl with the other hand so tightly that it almost bled.
“I wanted to live as a human here, yet I still wanted to know if I would think the same things as before sealing my memories... huh.”
The boy sighed at his own roundabout choice to seal his memories.
Then, this time, he chose to use the precious pearl.
“If I am to gain power through such a jewel, this is how it should be.”
Without hesitation, the boy swallowed the pearl that could be used just by channeling magic power.
His throat moved with a gulp, and before the pearl could settle in his stomach, the blessing’s power dwelled within him.
“■■■ Gentle Breeze (Soyokaze)”
A soft life magic breeze stirred the boy’s hair.
“Ku ku ku, this is magic—”
Now, the boy could use any kind of magic.
He could browse the knowledge of all magic like flipping through an encyclopedia.
“—I am the king who governs demons.”
A crescent-like arc formed on the boy’s lips.
Then, as if responding to his smile, a cataclysm occurred.
— Flames engulfed the world.
Beyond the horizon, flames surged from the earth into the sky.
Not just one spot, but a wall of fire surrounded him 360 degrees, no matter which way he looked.
“The world seems to be welcoming its end—”
The boy laughed loudly, raising both hands to the sky.
Just as his laughter ended, the wall of flames that encircled the world suddenly vanished.
Without any doubt about the unknown flames, the boy muttered to himself.
“It doesn’t look right for the king to stand alone... That’s right, I’ll summon attendants.”
Just by willing it, a magic circle emitting purple light appeared on the ground.
The double rings at the circle’s edge floated into midair, splitting vertically to form tubes of light.
Within the tubes, black stains formed, which soon shaped into abnormal humanoid figures.
The stone monuments of the communal cemetery where the boy stood were pushed aside by the figures and toppled one after another.
“Your Highness, the high-rank demon ‘Black Trio’ has arrived. I, Bliss, at your service.”
The boy frowned at the black high-rank demon who appeared.
“I am the king. Call me Your Majesty.”
“Understood, Your Majesty. I accept.”
Surrounded by the high-rank demons, the boy smiled deeply but suddenly felt a dizzy spell.
“...Ugh, wh-what is this?”
“Human bodies are fragile; I foolishly thought you wouldn't withstand the backlash of summoning.”
What struck the boy was the backlash from using the high-rank demon summoning, classified as a forbidden spell, and the sudden depletion of his magic power.
“If I’m weak, then I’ll strengthen myself—yes, by modification.”
As if waiting for the boy to say that, magic power was cast silently, and his body began to crack and reshape with creaking sounds.
— Bones stretched, muscles grew, transforming him into the form of an adult man.
“Uggh!”
A scream escaped the boy’s lips.
He became a nearly two-meter giant, and his growth stopped.
But the changes did not cease.
— A thin purple horn sprouted from his forehead, and his hair grew down to his waist.
“Hah, hah, hah.”
The boy gasped roughly in short breaths; his hair shone silver, with a lock dyed dark purple at the front.
When the boy snapped his fingers, clothes and a cape appeared in midair, wrapping around his body.
Startled by his own transformation, the boy was spoken to.
