Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Chapter 37: Shopping with the Little Girls 🛍️

Published: September 2, 2025

This is not from the protagonist’s point of view.

It’s a shopping trip for the slave girls.

“Liza, I’m counting on you to protect everyone.”

“Understood.”

This is an order from my Master.

I will swear on this spear that I will protect them all without fail.

“Alright then, let’s go! Everyone, follow me!”

Following Arisa’s command, Pochi and Tama dash ahead. Arisa talks with the Master as if they were equals—she really doesn’t come across as a slave. That’s something I can’t do, nor do I want to imitate.

Since the Master has given permission, I shouldn’t interfere as a slave, but still…

“First, let’s get underwear! By the way, what kind of underwear do Pochi and the others wear?”

Arisa says that as she lifts the hem of Pochi’s cloak and clothes to check. Even though we’re different species and all female, it feels a bit lacking in modesty. But since they’re still like children, maybe it can’t be helped?

“No way! You’re not wearing any! Liza, you too?”

“Yes, I’m not wearing any underwear.”

Arisa covers her face with both hands, opening her mouth wide in shock, saying, “I can’t believe it!” It seems like an emotional expression, but for us of different races, it’s hard to understand.

“We’re buying everyone’s underwear! Let’s go!”

“Alright!”

“Alright, indeed!”

As if shaking off something, Arisa grabs the hands of Tama and Pochi and starts walking. Since the three children could be targets for pickpockets or criminals, I stay close so they don’t get separated.

“So, this country’s underwear are also bloomers. I guess we’ll have to make cute shorts and bras ourselves.”

She seems dissatisfied with the store’s selection. I don’t fully understand the terms, but they seem to be types of underwear?

“It’s better than no panties at all. Hey Liza, excuse me.”

Arisa says that as she hugs my waist. It seems she’s measuring my size.

“Sir, I’ll take nine of this size, and three each of these two sizes, please. How much will that be?”

I boldly bargained down the shopkeeper’s price from 10 Large Copper Coins to 6 Large Copper Coins. And on top of that, I got five decorative cords that fix the underwear as freebies. She must have some skill in negotiation and haggling.

It seems the Master’s trust in her to handle shopping is well-placed.

I put the 15 pieces of underwear we received into my bag. Considering physique, carrying the luggage is my role.

“Ahh~ The sweet smell is overwhelming~”

“Smells nice~”

“Indeed~”

The three of them are swaying toward a fried sweets stall emitting a sweet aroma, but I stop them and we return to shopping. They seem capable, but this area shows they’re still kids.

“What kind of clothes should we change into? The material should be linen or cotton, right? Wow, they even have clothes woven from grass! What kind of clothes do you like?”

Pochi and Tama look confused. Perhaps they’ve never chosen clothes before. Even when I was in my original tribe, I only once had clothes made for me; otherwise, I usually received hand-me-downs. She must have grown up in a rather wealthy family.

“I don’t mind any clothes as long as they fit. Considering the need for spear work, sturdy clothes would be best.”

“I see! So we should find cute clothes that can be worn as warriors! I’m fired up!”

“Fired up~”

“Indeed~”

I don’t think cute is necessary, but not only Arisa, Pochi and Tama look excited too. They might just be caught up in the atmosphere.

“How about this one-piece dress? The young grass green dye is beautiful, and the sleeve decoration is cute too. Plus, it’s open at the back, so when you toss your hair back, the allure will make any man fall instantly~”

“Arisa, I appreciate you looking for clothes that suit us, but I’ll take this tunic and pants set. They’re easier to fight in, and the fabric is thick and durable.”

Arisa scratches her head over her cloak, seemingly displeased with my choice. Why does she, being human like our Master, hide her head under a cloak? It’s puzzling.
