“Pochi’s big sister, it’s just like this.”
The boys from Usasa’s group "Pendora" earnestly held out a plate piled with piping hot frog meat skewers that looked absolutely delicious.
Seeing their serious faces, it was clear what they desired.
Before Usasa could say more, Pochi raised a hand silently to stop her, then nodded in agreement.
“I understand without you having to say it. It’ll take a little time, so wait here!”
“Yes!”
“As expected of big sister!”
“That speeds things up!”
“Even if a sandstorm comes, we’ll wait here, Gau!”
—Gau?
Well, that’s fine. Later, I’ll have to talk with Kouzai, who’s got that imposing character, about the nickname Gau-kun!
Pochi hurried back upstairs to the "sweet room" to fetch a special item.
She took it wrapped in oil paper out of the Fairy Bag, opened it just a tiny bit to enjoy the aroma, and then dashed back to the courtyard where everyone was waiting.
“I’ll give everyone one piece each! Make sure to chew well, okay?”
She served the prized “Smoked Basilisk” to everyone.
It was a bit precious, but seeing everyone smile made Pochi happy.
“Um, big sister?”
Huh? Something was off.
Usasa didn’t look well.
“Could it be you don’t like smoked food?”
“N-no, I love it, but…”
If you love it, you should eat it.
“Usasa, here you go.”
Pochi placed a piece of smoked meat into Usasa’s mouth.
Her ears turned bright red as she muttered, “It’s delicious,” and began chewing happily.
Yes, this was just right.
With a belly full of satisfaction, she happily joined the group, biting into the reward of frog meat skewers.
◇
“—A demon blade?”
“Yes! We want to learn too! Please!”
It was a misunderstanding on Pochi’s part.
They’d already eaten the frog meat skewers, so she decided to teach them properly.
“Like this, you focus your magic power into the Demonic Sword with a zugan—”
“Big sister, we don’t have a Demonic Sword.”
Oh?
Maybe if we ask Master, he might give us some.
Pochi went to the courtyard where Master was napping in the shade of a tree.
“No, you can’t.”
“You can’t?”
“Yeah, you can’t.”
Too bad.
Master was being mean.
“No luck,”
Usasa and the others groaned and collapsed onto the ground.
Ah, what a problem.
Just then, Liza returned from buying snacks, so Pochi consulted her.
“What’s wrong, Pochi?”
“Liza! I want a Demonic Sword!”
“You already have one, don’t you?”
“I do, but it’s not the same.”
After explaining properly, Liza gave her a good idea.
“You’re supposed to infuse magic power into this wooden sword?”
“That’s right. I practiced with a wooden sword at first too. I completely forgot!”
It brought back fond memories.
Pochi wanted to be stuck to Master every day like she was back then.
“I can’t do it, big sister!”
“This is a secret advanced technique! You can’t master it just by practicing a little.”
Pochi herself needed half a month.
Only geniuses like Master and Tama can do it right away!
“Train steadily! Focus your magic power with a zugan and strike with a zudon!”
Encouraged by Pochi’s words, Usasa and the others shouted spirited battle cries and began practicing.
Watching over them, Pochi took a nap on Master’s stomach.
Today was Tama’s ninja day, so Pochi got to have Master all to herself.
She hoped tomorrow would be just like today, spending time with Master.
