Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Chapter 267: 10-39. Training 🥋

Satou here. No matter how sharp a scalpel is, it can't be used for dismantling a tuna. Even if the sharpness drops a bit, you still need an appropriate length and size.

“Toooona!”

Pochi’s small body charged straight at a massive monster roughly the size of two ordinary houses. Right now, Pochi and the others were fighting a level 39 spiked tumor lizard (Mace Lizard), the strongest monster in this area. Its head was covered with countless spiked tumors, and charging headfirst at it qualified Pochi as a hero.

Despite Pochi’s Magic Short Sword being stuck deep into the base of the spiked tumor lizard’s head, it showed no sign of effect. The lizard shook its huge head violently and flicked Pochi off to the corner of the room as if swatting a fly.

“I must tell you that having a big head doesn’t mean you’re smart—that’s just an urban legend!”

“Arisa, cast the enhancement magic. Mia, pry open its mouth!”

“Mm.”

“Okay!”

The spiked tumor lizard, about to strike Pochi with its tail, changed its direction, lured by Nana’s provocation.

Magic power bullets shot from Lulu’s magic cannon only scraped the lizard’s tough hide, failing to deliver a fatal blow. Tama’s Twin Blades were similar—just scratching the thick skin, causing minimal damage.

Mia’s new spell, Expansion Bullet (Balloon Shot), pried open the lizard’s mouth. Although it required more magic power than the old rapid expansion (balloon) spell that used existing moisture, this spell had the advantage of generating the necessary moisture itself, making it very practical. I had recently created this spell at Mia’s request.

“Enhancement coming up~”

“Thanks.”

Arisa’s enhancement magic bestowed even greater power upon Liza. Responding to the surge of heat from within, Liza shouted the name of her technique with explosive spirit. Though not necessary, Liza always seemed to get pumped up and shout after receiving enhancement magic.

“Instant Spiral Strike!”

A red light leaked from Liza’s Demonic Spear, wrapping her entire body. With a booming sound that split the air, she dashed tens of meters in an instant, imagining her spear and body as a single weapon, piercing through the spiked tumor lizard.

It was a reckless move.

“Amazing~”

“As expected of Ms. Liza.”

“Confirmed. The charge was brave, I declare.”

Covered in spiderwebs, Pochi trudged back, and I cleaned him up with life magic.

“Good job, Pochi.”

“Master, I want a bigger weapon.”

For once, Pochi voiced a selfish request. Actually, since the enemies leveled over 35, Pochi’s and Tama’s weapons had become too short to penetrate the monsters’ tough outer skin. I had started making new weapons for them yesterday, but there was no way they’d be finished in one night.

I pulled various existing weapons out of storage.

“Want to try a normal longsword?”

“Big~?”

“It’s a big weapon!”

Pochi’s eyes sparkled as he grabbed the one-handed sword, one-and-a-half-handed sword, greatsword, great hammer, and spear I took out, swinging them to test their feel. He lifted every weapon with ease, but because he was so light, he couldn’t handle the inertia well when swinging them around.

“Master~? Bring out another one~”

Tama carried a great hammer in one hand and begged for another, so I gave it to him. Compared to the Mithril Alloy Great Hammer from the Dwarf Village, it was lighter, but still heavier than Tama himself.

“Look, look~ Spin~?”

Tama twirled the two great hammers in his hands like spinning tops. Though he seemed to lack strength compared to Liza and Pochi, Tama’s muscle power was actually pretty high. Arisa and Lulu were mumbling and shaking their shoulders, amused by “Tama the spinning top.” They seemed to find it hilarious—well, at that age, even a rolling chopstick is entertaining.

“Ugh, I’m getting dizzy.”

Since Pochi wanted to use long-handled weapons like a halberd or greatsword, I tied heavy weights to his body to help balance him.

“I’m not dizzy anymore, but I’m too heavy to move.”
