Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Chapter 220: SS: Stories from Muno City 📖

Published: September 9, 2025

This is not from Satou’s perspective.

This is an SS from the perspective of Nina, the steward of Baron Muno's Domain.

"Mi-my lady Nina, a group of carriages carrying a letter from Baron Pendragon has arrived at the castle gate. What should we do?"

"A group of carriages? Where is this letter you speak of?"

"Here it is."

The wax seal on the letter is definitely Satou’s mark.

Nina instructed Yurina to let the group of carriages into the courtyard and have them wait, then she broke the seal.

What is this? An inventory list?

She blinked in disbelief at the extensive list of food supplies written inside.

Stepping out onto the terrace to look down, she saw enough horse-drawn carts parked to confirm that the inventory wasn’t false.

"Honestly, at least this means the citizens won’t starve, but I wonder how much this cost. Calculating the total debt is such a hassle."

Nina handed the inventory list to Misonna, a clerk who had come instead of Yurina, and sent her to verify if the goods matched the list. Since Misonna strictly follows procedure, she was very suited for this kind of task.

What the merchants told me about that man was hard to believe.

He supposedly defeated demons that attacked Grylian City? Since they were Low-Rank Demon Race, I can understand it, but I’ve never heard of anyone defeating them without any casualties. I heard Karina fought alongside him, but that girl is something else. She’s got a fine figure—why doesn’t she just capture Satou already?

More astonishing is the network he built in the Duke’s Capital. It seems he got these preserved foods at a bargain from Count Hohen. How he managed to cozy up to such a hard-to-please noble is beyond me.

Even Lord Orion should watch out; if he’s not careful, Satou might end up turning the master-servant relationship upside down. It’s fortunate Satou lacks ambition for advancement or dominance.

With this much food, we might be able to distribute some to the villages. Perhaps we can agree to provide meals in exchange for forced labor on Muno City’s urban planning and land reclamation. I think Misonna and Yurina will have to work themselves to the bone to hammer out the details.

But it seems I still misjudged that man.

Since then, three more shipments of similar size have arrived.

That alone is overwhelming, but what shocked me most were the contents of Satou’s letters and documents carried back by Karina.

They stated that several workshops were to accept exchange students from Muno City. To prevent technology leakage, accepting external students is usually an extremely difficult task.

Despite refusing the official appointment as "special liaison officer," what he’s actually doing is the same—no, it’s an even greater achievement than expected.

As I tasted the sweets called "Muno Roll" brought by the head chef Gelt, I pondered how to reward this accomplishment.

There’s no money or treasure to give. I’ve already bestowed a noble title. Promoting the honorary knight to noble rank would make sense, but that man showed no interest. The only further promotion possible is recommending him to His Majesty the King. Beyond that, perhaps a woman?

If only the Baron would take a second wife.

If there were a young daughter to offer in marriage, he wouldn’t refuse.

Maybe we should have Totona, a girl from Pendragon Village, adopted as the Baron’s daughter.

It’s frustrating that such a joke actually seems more feasible.

"Really, can’t he just try a bit harder in a more normal way?"

Listening to Lord Zotol and Karina’s sparring chants outside the window, I couldn’t help but grumble to myself.

If only I were about twenty years younger.

Thinking such foolish thoughts, I sighed deeply.

It’s troublesome that as the domain management improves, the worries only multiply.
