This is Satou. ECO has been spreading into various places, but the most familiar one might be household solar power generation. In another world, there is magic, but is that also ECO? More importantly, where does that magic power originally come from?

“Here I go, ■Wind (Wind).”
First, it’s Lady Aarize’s demonstration technique.
With the activated spirit sight skill, I could clearly see what Lady Aarize was doing.
With just one word of spell she uttered, colorless spirits gathered around her, instantly transforming into green wind-element spirits, becoming the phenomenon called “wind,” and activating magic.
The power was about the level of an air hammer, but the chant was incredibly short.
“How is it? The magic that manifests is no different from ordinary wind magic, but the advantage is that the casting time is very short and the required magic power is minimal.”
“On the other hand, it’s powerless in places without spirits.”
Lady Lua added the disadvantage that Lady Aarize forgot to mention.
The term “places without spirits” is vague, but spirits are apparently scarce inside artificial structures or in monster habitats. The latter makes sense. Just like the cave of Yoroi Mamoru before, monsters probably consume them.
In the view from the activated spirit sight skill, Lady Aarize was emitting a strong light focused on gold and precious metals. Lady Lua’s light was a faint, cold-colored glow flickering softly. From what I saw of the two, spirit light is not a fixed color but fluctuates within a certain range of hues. I also looked at a bird flying over the waterfall, but the light was too faint to be clear.
The faint light leaking from my body was a gentle white.
When I released the restrained spirit light, an intense brilliance flooded the surroundings, almost blinding me. Spirits around the waterfall gathered at an astonishing speed. They were so numerous it was hard to see clearly, but the light I emitted ranged broadly from cool to warm colors in vivid primary hues—a gaudy, ostentatious display.
Mia said it was “beautiful,” but from an aesthetic standpoint, I think the light Lady Aarize emits is far more noble and beautiful.
Oops, I can’t see around me like this.
I quickly condensed my spirit light so it wouldn’t leak out. The spirits that had lost their target started to scatter slowly. Only those attracted to the spirit lights emitted by Lady Lua and Lady Aarize remained; the majority returned to the natural world. Compared to when they gathered, their dispersal was much slower.
“You’re already able to control it freely, huh? Such impressive adaptability, right, Aze-sama?”
“Y-yes.”
Lady Aarize blinked, probably because of the glare, and gave a vague reply to Lady Lua’s words.
“Sorry, Lady Aarize. I loosened the control a bit because I wanted to check something.”
“It’s okay since it’s your first time.”
Huh? Lady Aarize’s shyness kicked in. Until just now, she was speaking to me face to face, but now she turned to Lady Lua again. Maybe the light was really dazzling.
“T-then! Try it yourself.”
“Yes, ◆ Wind (Wind).”
Huh? Although she botched the spell, a slight breeze blew. Maybe the spirits cut her some slack?
“Oh? Are you not good at chanting spells?”
“Yes, I just can’t get it right.”
“Yet just now, didn’t you feel the wind?”
“Maybe the spirits were being considerate.”
Lady Lua’s words prompted the reply I was feeling, but she quickly denied it.
“That’s not possible. Except for exceptions like Dryads, spirits don’t have self-awareness or intelligence. They mechanically receive mana from ley lines and deliver it to creatures who need mana.”
I see.
So I guess I won’t meet a sultry Undine lady. What a pity.
“Really? Sometimes when they gather in large numbers, they seem to be saying something.”
Oh, that’s a dissenting opinion from Lady Aarize.
“That’s only Aze-sama saying that. Other High Elves haven’t mentioned it, right?”
“Yeah, that’s true. But I just feel like they’re speaking.”
